Eagles build line in latest mock draft rundown

but the team will continue the process of looking for players once the NFL Scouting Combine begins next week. Philadelphia has a deep and talented roster,The Philadelphia Eagles are two months away from the NFL Draft, but has needs at tackle,Authentic Donnie Jones Jersey, and in the secondary. , linebacker

Miller is tall,Authentic Josh Kline Jersey, and athletic tackle who blocked well for Josen at UCLA. He really came into his own in 2017 and with more strength can be the heir apparent to Jason Peters. , long

eight hits,Authentic Logan Ryan Jersey,Jeff Kerr's take: Miller allowed just 15 quarterback pressures (two sacks, five hurries) on 544 pass-blocking snaps last season. At 6-8, plays through the whistle and has amazing balance for his size...despite his large frame.,Authentic Sylvester Williams Jersey, 310 pounds

which makes him a better fit at right least to start his NFL career. Miller did play right tackle in 2015 and 2016 before switching over to left in 2017. ,He does have problems blocking edge rushers to the inside

Doug Pederson comes from the Andy Reid school of thought where bolstering the trenches is paramount. He spent last year's first-round pick on Derek Barnett despite already having Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry, but what if that doesn't happen in 2018? It would be great to have a terrific insurance policy like Trenton Thompson. ,Authentic Johnathan Cyprien Jersey, so I don't think it's out of the question that he could opt for a talented defensive tackle to play in a rotation with Fletcher Cox and Timmy Jernigan. Both of those players stayed healthy in 2017

which would let the team move Lane Johnson to the left side.  ,The Eagles could use a more young talent at offensive tackle given the age of Jason Peters. Philadelphia could draft a right tackle like Brown

Brown (6-8,Authentic Quinton Spain Jersey, 360) is a massive blocker who was a physical blocker for the Sooners. He opened a lot of holes for Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine in 2016. Brown did the same for others as a starter over the past few seasons. Brown can use his strength and physicality to toss a lot of defenders to the ground as he can be a flat-out bully on the field. However, but his height is less than ideal for throwing lanes on the inside., he needs to improve his pass protection for the NFL. Some team sources say they don't see Brown as a first-rounder; they think he will be a second-round pick and a starting right tackle at the next level. He also could be a big guard

The Eagles front office did a fine job locking the nucleus of their Super Bowl championship roster into long-term deals. But the periphery of the roster is going to take major hits in free agency. Top rotation tackle Beau Allen is likely to accept a tasty offer elsewhere, so draft them whenever you can., leaving the Eagles with little depth behind Fletcher Cox and Timmy Jernigan. And decision-makers Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas like to mix Moneyball with old-school Bill Parcells reasoning: 330-pound defensive tackles who can move are rare commodities

Settle is a 330-pounder who can move. He battled conditioning issues at Virginia Tech, and Cox and Jernigan (and line coach Phillip Daniels and others in the tight-knit Eagles organization) will keep Settle from getting carried away with second helpings., but the Eagles will only need him for a 30-snap rotation role in the short term

but can play in a one-gap scheme. Settle had 36 tackles with 12.5 tackles for a loss,Jeff Kerr's take: The only issue with Settle is he's a better fit as a 3-4 nose tackle than a 4-3 tackle, four sacks, those stats aided by a quick burst off the line. Settle is a natural pass rusher who can collapse the pocket, despite having short arms. Would be an excellent rotational piece on the Eagles. , and one pass deflection in 2017

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery reportedly underwent surgery on a torn rotator cuff Wednesday morning after playing through the injury for the entire 2017 NFL season.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported the news and noted Jeffery suffered the ailment during training camp. He still appeared in all 16 of the team's regular-season contests and its three playoff games en route to winning Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots earlier this month.

549 yards and 26 touchdowns across 63 games for the organization that selected him in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft. He immediately emerged as the top wide receiver target in Philly.,Jeffery signed with the Eagles in March to end a five-year stay with the Chicago Bears. He racked up 304 catches for 4

$52 million extension with the organization in December.,He caught 57 passes for 789 yards and nine touchdowns during his first season with the Eagles and signed a four-year

Injuries are one thing that held the 28-year-old University of South Carolina product back at times in Chicago. He missed six games during his rookie campaign because of hand and knee ailments. He also sat out seven games during the 2015 season because of various issues.

A timetable for his recovery from the latest setback wasn't immediately announced.

At the time of the reported trade offer, but has played just 10 games since as a result of several suspensions for substance abuse., Gordon was already tagged with a two-game suspension. He wound up leading the league in receiving yards in 2013 despite missing those two games

who was subsequently shipped to Minnesota once the Eagles acquired Carson Wentz in a different trade with the Browns. Foles rejoined Philadelphia last offseason and wound up authoring one of the greatest postseason runs of any QB in NFL history in leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl LII title.,Foles was ultimately dealt to the Rams in exchange for Sam Bradford

Both Groh and long-time running backs coach Duce Staley interviewed for the position with head coach Doug Pederson on Monday.

The 46-year old Groh just wrapped up his first season with the birds,Womens Jason Kelce Jersey, but was given acclaim for his work with the receivers, this season.,Womens Donnie Jones Jersey, specifically Nelson Agholor

Staley wasn't left with nothing as he reportedly was named assistant head coach to go along with his running backs coach title. The Eagles did not have an assistant head coach last year.

The Eagles aren't planning to tender a 2018 contract to Watkins, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.,Womens Josh Kline Jersey, which will make him an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year

the Eagles would have to extend a fourth-round tender in order to retain him,With Watkins having completed his rookie contract and now heading into his fifth season, but the organization apparently didn't feel he was worthy of that price tag. The 25-year-old appeared in 28 games over the past two seasons,Womens Logan Ryan Jersey, the Eagles are well equipped to compensate for Watkins' departure., but saw nearly as many snaps (165) on special teams as he did on defense (168) in 2017. With 2017 second-round defensive back Sidney Jones back to full strength after missing nearly all of his rookie season while recovering from an Achilles injury and top special teamer Chris Maragos (knee) set to return in 2018 after an injury-shortened season

The Birds own the 32nd overall pick after winning the franchise's first Super Bowl,Womens Sylvester Williams Jersey, and the front office decision makers will need to see how the rest of the first round shakes out before zeroing in on one prospect., making it challenging to predict what the team will do. Philly is staring down a long wait before it gets on the clock

Nonetheless, plenty of writers across the internet are taking a stab at it,Womens Johnathan Cyprien Jersey, take a look at the players certain experts think the Eagles will take with that No. 32 selection:, and I rounded up a few projections here -- and offered my take on each choice. So

the 36-year-old left tackle coming off ACL surgery,It'll be interest to see what the Eagles do as Peters, continues his rehab. Halapoulivaati Vaitai filled in as an adequate replacement during the Super Bowl run, they'll have to consider him., but if the Birds think they can find a better long-term solution and Miller is available

Miller was a second-team all-Pac 12 selection at UCLA and the Eagles have shown a desire to invest heavily in their offensive line -- a unit that included two all-pros in 2017.

"Decision-makers Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas like to mix Moneyball with old-school Bill Parcells reasoning: 330-pound defensive tackles who can move are rare commodities, but the Eagles will only need him for a 30-snap rotation role in the short term.", so draft them whenever you can. Settle is a 330-pounder who can move. He battled conditioning issues at Virginia Tech

My take: Tanier makes a lot of sense here. The Eagles might need to add depth at defensive tackle if they lose Beau Allen in free agency, Philadelphia has the luxury of taking a chance on a player with enticing raw talent like Settle., and thanks to a loaded roster

Settle could learn from three-time Pro Bowler Fletcher Cox and steady starter Tim Jernigan while easing into a manageable role on a talented defense.,In Philly

Easterling's take: " Protecting Carson Wentz should obviously be the Super Bowl champs' top priority. With Jason Peters aging and coming off a serious injury of his own, with plenty of starting experience on both sides.", Philly has to target his replacement early in this draft. McGlinchey is as polished as any tackle in this class

My take: If the Eagles do target an offensive tackle, as many experts assume they might, and McGlinchey was a three-year starter at Notre Dame who earned Walter Camp first-team all-America honors in 2017., McGlinchey stands as a logical option. The Eagles' brass showed last year they value college production and experience

and they're excited about the potential of 2017 second-round pick Sidney Jones.,My take: Casserly might be a bit off base with his reasoning here. The Eagles have four cornerbacks 24 or younger under contract for next season

it won't be because they need help at corner. It'd be because he was the best player on their board. And that's a possibility -- Sporting News named Jackson a second-team all-American this season after he ranked eighth in the SEC with 11 passes defended.,If they take Jackson

LeGarrette Blount wants to return to the Eagles

LeGarrette Blount was crucial toward the Philadelphia Eagles winning their first Super Bowl title, steeping in as a veteran presence to the young players in the locker room and emerging as a team leader. Blount was all highly productive in is first year with the Eagles, capping the season off with 14 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown in Super Bowl 52.

so we'll see. Obviously I like it a lot there. They like me a lot there. It's a mutual respect and a mutual agreement thing how we feel about each other,Authentic Johnathan Cyprien Jersey,"It's early, you guys know how I feel about the guys," Blount said to NFL Total Access. "Obviously, about the team. I love those guys."

Blount has been vocal in defense of Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley, one of the main reasons why he wishes to return to Philadelphia.

"I can't say enough about Duce, just how well I was close to him. How good he helped me understand things," Blount said. " I feel like Duce is one of the best running backs coaches I've ever had. One of the best coaches I've had my entire life. I obviously want to be a part of that for a while."

The Eagles won't have to pay much to retain Blount, who earned $1.25 million last season after signing with the Eagles in may. Blount earned a $300,000 incentive in his contract after reaching 750 rush yards in Week 17.

Blount was used wisely in the Eagles running back-by-committee approach, finishing with a 4.4 yards per carry average (his highest since 2013). He was just as good in the playoffs, having 173 carries for 766 yards and two touchdowns, finishing with 29 carries for 130 yards (4.5 yards per carry) and three touchdowns.

and I’m happy to be able to bring the trophy back to Philly. Now,“They see the passion I have, just getting me protected for the future. Because obviously I want to retire here and I know I’m going to retire here because I’ve been here a long time. I would love to retire here. It’s all on what they want to do. I’m just going to embrace it, it’s just all about just making sense,Womens Jason Kelce Jersey, whatever it is.”

The Eagles coach said as much during his final news conference before heading into the team’s brief offseason.

“There’s a side of success that’s not the glamorous side, and it’s the side that (includes questions like) who is going to hold out in OTAs?” said Pederson on Feb. 7. “Who is going to want the next big contract? Who is going to miss ‘this’ or ‘that’ for an endorsement deal or an autograph signing? It’s the not-so-glamorous side of success.”

Graham,Womens Donnie Jones Jersey, 29, is entering the final year of a contract that will pay him $7 million this season.

It is a contract that doesn’t come anywhere near matching that of defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who still has five years left on a deal that will pay him $11.5 million in 2018. Graham’s contract doesn’t even look good when compared to defensive end Vinny Curry who has three years left on his deal that will pay him $9 million this season.

Even defensive tackle Tim Jernigan,Womens Josh Kline Jersey, has four more years to run, whose contract was extended during the regular season, with a base salary of $3 million in 2018 with a big jump to $11 million in 2019.

The Eagles don’t have much money under the salary cap,Womens Logan Ryan Jersey, so to do another deal with Graham – something that is probably well deserved following a three-year stretch that has seen him become one of the game’s best defensive ends – will require some strategic planning on Roseman’s part.

Linebacker Nigel Bradham will be a free agent when the new league year begins in March.

Quarterback Nick Foles may require an extension to his one-year deal after being named Super Bowl MVP.

tight end Trey Burton,Then there are valuable free agents such as defensive tackle Beau Allen, and running back Darren Sproles, cornerback Patrick Robinson,Womens Sylvester Williams Jersey, to name a few.

Clearly, the not so glamorous side of success is well underway for the Eagles.

The Chadron State College track and field teams may not finish high in the team standings, Riley Northrup,Authentic Quinton Spain Jersey, but the Eagles’ new coach, is confident they’ll have some strong individual performances and his athletes will give it their all during the RMAC Indoor Championships at Colorado School of Mines in Golden this weekend.

Northrup notes that the Eagles have improved as the season has progressed and most of them are healthy and eager to compete.

Entering the Stinger Meet, Carbajal’s best this season was 33-11, but she hit 35-7 ? Saturday and is now 10th on the triple jump chart, helping CSC have three qualifiers in both the women’s long and triple jumps.

Most of CSC’s leaders on the charts entering this weekend’s showdown are throwers and jumpers.

On the men’s side, Cory Martens is first, Jesse Bleidt third and Blake Jacobs fourth in the weight throw and Martens is third and Jacobs fifth in the shot put. In addition, freshman Isaac Grimes is the long jump leader and ranks fourth in the triple jump.

Also, sophomore Javan Lanier is third in the 60-meter dash and the gifted Grimes, who has entered the sprint only twice early in the season, is ninth.

Lady Eagles Ashlyn Hanson and Ashton Hallsted are the RMAC pacesetters in the weight throw. Northrup also believes seniors Alisha Heelan and Cassie Johnson,Authentic Donnie Jones Jersey, have a good chance of placing high because of their experience and determination as they near the end of their collegiate careers and their times get faster., who are fourth and fifth in the 400 list

The Chadron State women finished third in the team standings at last year’s indoor championships with 106.5 points. Many of those points were earned by “the big three,” Mel Herl,Authentic Josh Kline Jersey, the winner of both the shot put and weight throw; Stachia Reuwsaat, who won the long jump and was second in the 60 meters; and Tessa Gorsuch, the gold medalist in the high hurdles.

Two weeks later,Authentic Logan Ryan Jersey, this time at the National Indoor Championships while winning Chadron State’s first national team trophy in any sport other than rodeo., the trio combined for five All-American honors and placed third again

but both the men and the women seem likely to score in quite a few events at the conference showdown. It’s also hoped that several of them can add a few inches to their throws or jumps and advance to the national championships.,Womens Johnathan Cyprien Jersey,That “once in a generation” experience is expected to happen again this year

but so far have not nailed down any automatic qualifying slots.,Authentic Sylvester Williams Jersey,The Eagles have met the provisional qualifying standards in 10 times this winter

5 wide receivers Titans should look at in free agency

and the best receiver the Titans had was tight end Delanie Walker. The Titans need to add some talent in their wide receiver corps, but neither of them were a factor. Eric Decker was inconsistent, Rishard Matthews fell off over the final six weeks,The Tennessee Titans were not explosive at wide receiver last season. They had some talented rookies in Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor, and there are some options in the free agent market.

000-yard receiving seasons in four years with shaky quarterback play. Landry can do damage from the slot and outside, and he also can make big plays with his ability to make people miss with the ball in his hands. He’s registered two 1,The most consistent receiver on the Dolphins team the last couple of seasons will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Landry runs great routes,Womens Quinton Spain Jersey, and he would be a huge asset to the Titans with what he can do in the open field.

” Bryant’s agent Jordan Woy wrote in an e-mail to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday. “Nothing yet, who could become an unrestricted free agent on March 14.  “We have talked and more talks are scheduled,The Falcons have opened contact discussions with kicker Matt Bryant,Womens Taylor Lewan Jersey, but both sides are working on it.”

who will be 43 years old when the 2018 season starts, that means Bryant’s market value just got a bump. Bryant,Womens Brian Orakpo Jersey,Given Bryant’s long history as one of the top kickers in the league and Succop’s relative mediocrity, is due to become a free agent in three weeks.

Fulton has plenty of starting experience in his NFL career (46 starts in 63 games) and obviously knows the ins and outs of Nagy's system. He is also a native of Matteson,Womens Ben Jones Jersey, Illinois and graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor high school outside of the city of Chicago. His ability to play all three interior offensive line positions makes him a logical option for Chicago if he hits the open market this offseason.

the Royals centered their offseason around a beloved and homegrown star who had gone into free agency. They tried hard to sign the player. They made the biggest offer in franchise history and hoped for the best,Two years ago, but they also made a contingency plan.

If the player signed somewhere else,Womens DaQuan Jones Jersey, the Royals would do everything they could to protect his stature in the eyes of fans.

and wish him well. This is a franchise built on love as much as anything else, and claim blame for not doing better,They would talk about the player taking a better contract, and the men in charge wanted to preserve as much of it as possible.

of course. Royals officials are keeping mostly quiet about their view of why Eric Hosmer turned them down for a contract worth up to eight years and $144 million with the Padres,That player was Alex Gordon, but it’s worth noting they are still following the playbook created for negotiations with Gordon.

and a working knowledge of how the organization has operated,Without Royals officials disclosing much — publicly or privately — the details of the Royals’ side of this are a little murky. But through a handful of conversations this week, here’s the best guess:

Royals owner David Glass didn’t want to do it. This has all the markings of him going skittish at another big contract.

The Padres pushed forward at the end of the negotiation while the Royals pulled back. The Padres won by offering an opt-out clause, which the Royals didn’t want to do because that wouldn’t guarantee Hosmer being around when they’re ready to win again.

That may not have mattered, because while the Royals talked early of a six-year deal with an average annual value near $20 million, the final offer peeled back a little at (presumably) Glass’ direction. That last part is important.

Again, more guaranteed money, this is all based on varying levels of guesswork. The Padres’ offer is believed to be significantly better than the Royals’ — more years, more money upfront and an opt-out.

The Royals have always been willing to stretch for their own players, and it should be noted that by all accounts they offered Hosmer by far the biggest contract in franchise history.

But the market played to the Royals’ advantage here in a way that was reminiscent of the path that led Gordon back to the Royals. The Red Sox were widely viewed to have significant interest in Hosmer, same as the Cubs two years ago with Gordon. But then the Red Sox filled their first base need with Mitch Moreland, same as the Cubs did at corner outfield with Jason Heyward.

That created an opening for the Royals, and particularly with the club’s embarrassingly small TV contract set to expire after the 2019 season, they could have found the money.

Let’s be clear. This is about whether the Royals could have, not should have. I happen to believe this type of contract would’ve been bad for the Royals,Authentic Taylor Lewan Jersey, considering they are barely beginning their rebuild.

But this is absolutely the kind of deal the Royals have done in the past and have branded themselves as investing in. They spent $142 million on contracts for Gordon and Ian Kennedy two years ago. They could have spent the same on Hosmer now.

So, something changed, and not just the Padres coming up with a big offer.

My guess: Glass is already uncomfortable with those deals for Gordon and Kennedy,Authentic Brian Orakpo Jersey, which have turned out horribly. The Royals owe Gordon $44 million over the next two seasons and Kennedy $49 million over the next three.

Locking into another long-term deal worth $20 million or so per year was a tough sell for the owner, who knows the Royals are likely to lose a lot of games the next few seasons no matter what. He was looking for a way out.

One more time,Authentic Rishard Matthews Jersey, because I want to be as clear as possible: This is based in part on conjecture.

But the pieces line up. Publicly, the Royals are following the same playbook created two years ago in case Gordon signed somewhere else. They are protecting Hosmer’s image in Kansas City, promoting the success of his time here and labeling their own contract offer as inferior.

The Royals could have matched the Padres’ contract,Authentic Ben Jones Jersey, but didn’t, and whether you agree with their baseball logic or not this represents a change from past strategy and philosophy.

Moore has been clear about what he thinks of Hosmer and the front office’s desire to bring him back as both an example for younger guys and as a baseball player.

That didn’t happen. Something changed. The most logical conclusion is that the owner wanted it that way.

For those of us old enough to remember the meddling of the old days, and who believe the Royals are better off without the commitment required to sign Hosmer,Authentic DaQuan Jones Jersey, it’s a heck of a situation to think about.

n an eight-minute pre-recorded interview with emcee Peter King of MMQB, the franchise’s cornerstone player offered a long-distance update on his on-going rehabilitation from surgery on his right shoulder. The surgery/rehab forced Luck to miss the entire 2017 season and has called into question his availability for the upcoming season.

Without question the most telling comment came when Luck was asked if a second surgery remained a possibility. That clearly would threaten his availability for 2018.

“Oh, in my mind,Authentic Wesley Woodyard Jersey, that is not an option for me right now,’’ Luck said. “I feel very, very good about where I am. So that ship has sailed, which is also a bit of a relief, I’m not going to lie.’’

Luck has been on the West Coast for the past month working with throwing specialists Tom House and Adam Dedeaux.

“I feel awesome, I really do,’’ he said. “I’m in a great place. It’s been a long journey. It’ll still be a long journey till hopefully we get done what we need to get done in Indianapolis.

“The rehab has been hard at times. The one thing I know in my heart is I’m getting better. I feel great. I’m extremely optimistic. It’s been fun to see myself improve. I couldn’t be more excited for this offseason and our new coach, everything that’s happened and the direction the team’s going.’’

Luck revealed he’s “in the middle of a little bit of throwing,’’ but primarily is focused on strengthening and preparing his right shoulder “to be able to handle the throw load that is part of being an NFL quarterback.

It’s been a methodical process that began when Luck spent approximately six weeks in the Netherlands working with a personal trainer. That extended business trip overseas was a byproduct of him developing soreness and swelling in the shoulder when he resumed throwing in mid-October. Four controlled throwing sessions were curtailed and cortisone was injected in the shoulder to remedy the situation.

When that didn’t happen, the team placed him on the injured reserve list Nov. 2.

While the Colts have been laying the groundwork for the upcoming season, their $140 million quarterback has been meticulously attacking his rehab.

NHL trade deadline: History of first-round draft picks dealt for players

Leading into the Feb. 26 NHL trade deadline, a term you'll often hear is "market price."

While general managers and their respective staff evaluate talent differently, and what players have cost at previous trade deadlines, adidas Patrick Marleau jersey, the return one player retrieves for a team in one trade, goes a long way in informing future moves.

they've progressively been included in fewer trade deadline deals. This season,First-round picks are generally a pretty steep price to pay in a package deal for any player. Over the past decade, both of whom are on expiring contracts and would constitute rental acquisitions, players like Rick Nash and Evander Kane, have each been rumored to cost a first-round pick plus additional assets.

Likewise, the Rangers' Michael Grabner has been rumored to cost a first-round pick to to acquire, with his contract also only running through only the next few months.

To get a sense of who could garner a first-round pick in a trade this season, Sporting News takes a look back at players who have cost that price at past deadlines.

The St. Louis Blues trade Kevin Shattenkirk and Pheonix Copley to the Washington Capitals for a 2017 first-round pick, 2019 conditional second-round pick, Zach Sanford and Brad Malone.

The Arizona Coyotes trade Martin Hanzal, a 2018 second-round pick, Ryan White and a 2017 fourth-round pick to the Minnesota Wild for a 2017 first-round pick, a 2019 conditional pick and Grayson Downing.

The Chicago Blackhawks trade Andrew Ladd, Jay Harrison and Matt Fraser to the Winnipeg Jets for a 2016 first-round pick, Marko Dano and a 2018 conditional third-round pick.

It helped them keep pace with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the race for the No. 2 spot (or perhaps even the top spot) in the Metropolitan Division and was their seventh win in the past eight games. Since losing 10 in a row earlier this season the Flyers are now on a 22-8-2 run.

It was a balanced offensive attack that featured the Flyers getting goals from seven different players, including captain Claude Giroux who scored his 200th career goal.

Jori Lehtera, Scott Laughton, adidas Matt Murray jersey, Brandon Manning,The Flyers also received goals from Travis Konecny, Nolan Patrick, and Andrew MacDonald.

That is the good news for the Flyers.

The bad news is the win came with a price as they lost another goalie when Michal Neuvirth had to leave the game after the first period due to a lower body injury. He was replaced by rookie Alex Lyon who went on to stop 25 of the 26 shots he faced to record his first career win.

The problem for the Flyers is going to be if Neuvirth’s injury is anything serious because they are already without starting goalie Brian Elliott for the next few weeks. That could leave them dangerously thin at one of the most important positions on the ice at the worst time of the year. If Neuvirth misses any significant time it could force general manager Ron Hextall into a trade.

Sunday’s game got off to a pretty wild start as the two teams combined for six goals and three fights in the first period.

The fighting started just 15 seconds into the game when Shayne Gostisbehere dropped the gloves for the first time in his career. It was in response to a hit from Pavel Buchnevich on Konecny. It was Buchnevich’s second career fight and came in just his second game back in the lineup after he was sidelined due to a concussion.

Ten minutes later Wayne Simmonds dropped the gloves with Anthony DeAngelo, a bout that was followed by Cody McLeod and Dale Weise fighting just one minute later.

this one was ugly. The only good news is that a couple of their potential trade pieces scored goals and perhaps gave their trade value a little bit of a boost. The Red Wings (24-25-9, 57 points) opened Tuesday seven points behind Carolina, with four teams between.,adidas Kris Letang jersey, which is in the final wild card spot

Holland admitted this particular roster wasn’t likely to reach the playoffs.

and we’ll have to play eight or 10 games over .500 to qualify for the playoffs.,“We’re not quite good enough right now,” Holland said. “We’re not far away, adidas Jake Guentzel jersey, we have a big road to hoe. Check out the Flyers renovated & expanded South Jersey training facility

After about four years and $15 million, the Philadelphia Flyers have completed their renovation and expansion project for the team's training facility at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J.

"We didn't just set out to refurbish this place; we wanted to create something that's really special," said David Scott, the president and CEO of Flyers owner Comcast Spectacor. "This is where it all starts when you look at the Flyers organization."

Flyers President Paul Holmgren said the impetus for the upgrades at the training facility came when Ron Hextall succeeded him as general manager and brought a game plan of building the team through the draft and player development.

Hextall noted in a "salary cap world its critical for a team to draft well and develop its talent internally." The expanded facility, he said, Hextall said the team can now say, provided space for the team to provide the latest in sports science and fitness and training equipment in a quality setting. When trying to attract talent to the Flyers, "We can offer you more to be the best you can be."

Assistant General Manager Barry Hanrahan pointed out some of the highlights of the renovation and expansion project. They included:,During a media tour of the facility Wednesday afternoon

The good news is, the Flyers are on fire. The bad news is,Authentic Kris Letang jersey, the injuries are piling.

Forward Wayne Simmonds will be out 2-3 weeks with an upper-body injury, while goaltender Michal Neuvirth will be out 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced on Tuesday.

scoring 20 goals and 17 assists. Forward Oskar Lindblom was recalled and could make his NHL debut in tonight’s game.,Authentic Jake Guentzel jersey,Simmonds has played in all 59 games

which means time is of the essence for would-be contenders to load up for a run at the Stanley Cup.,The NHL trade deadline is nearly here

there's enough rumors and speculation to keep things interesting right down to the final cutoff.,The 2018 rumor mill already features a great many compelling storylines. And while pipe dreams of a John Tavares or Erik Karlsson blockbuster might qualify as a little too bold for the NHL's taste

This year's trade bait list features your usual crop of rentals. Buffalo's Evander Kane,Authentic Matt Murray jersey, Detroit's Mike Green and the Rangers' Rick Nash — all pending unrestricted free agents — figure to swap their basement dwellings for a taste of the playoffs. And then there's a bounty of big names with term toiling on teams fixing for a reset — Ottawa's Mike Hoffman, Edmonton's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Montreal's Alex Galchenyuk, to name a few.

Of course,Authentic Joe Pavelski jersey, it could always turn into an anticlimactic snoozefest like the 2017 version. Let's not think that way, though.

Jakub Voracek scored the tying goal with 1:25 left in regulation and then got the game-winner 1:26 into overtime to lift the Flyers to a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.

Voracek also had an assist and Nolan Patrick had the other goal for Philadelphia, which improved to 7-0-2 in its last nine games. The Flyers, third in the Metropolitan Division,Authentic Joe Thornton jersey, pulled two points behind second-place Pittsburgh and three behind first-place Washington.

" Philadelphia coach Dave Hakstol said.,"That's a nice way to get two points

It's even better, perhaps, considering the state of the Flyers.

who will be out for 2-to-3 weeks after suffering an upper-body injury in Sunday's win over the New York Rangers.,The Flyers were without forward Wayne Simmonds

Simmonds joins a growing list of injured Flyers. Starting goalie Brian Elliott had surgery Feb. 13 for a core muscle injury and is expected to miss up to five more weeks. Backup Michal Neuvirth, who was elevated to No. 1 last Tuesday after Elliott's injury, will be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks after suffering a lower body injury in Sunday's game.

" Voracek said. "We have to find a way to win games. We've got to keep finding a way.","You just have to dig in

Philadelphia acquired goalie Petr Mrazek from Detroit on Monday night for a pair of draft picks to fill the void. Mrazek backed up Alex Lyon on Tuesday. Lyon, appearing in his fifth career game, made 25 saves for his second victory.

" Hakstol said of Lyon. "We're going to need contributions from everybody in our lineup.","He took care of business and was a big part of us winning a hockey game

Oskar Lindblom replaced Simmonds, who has 20 goals and 37 points, and didn't register a point in his NHL debut.

"Those are big shoes to fill, but I don't think anybody spends too much time thinking about the injuries or who's out of the lineup," Hakstol said.

which lost its sixth straight. The Canadiens' NHL-worst road record fell to 8-19-2.,Paul Byron and Jeff Petry scored for Montreal

Voracek sent the game to overtime with a slap shot from the point that deflected off Montreal's Max Pacioretty and through goalie Carey Price's five-hole.,With Lyon pulled for an extra attacker

"It's not ideal, that's for sure," Price said of giving up the late tying goal. "Pretty good game up to that point. That pretty much sums it up, really."

Voracek netted the game-winner when he skated to the slot and fired a wrist shot past Price's glove side.

"We would have liked to prove something on the road, but we weren't able to," Pacioretty said. "We were close tonight and it goes off my stick and goes in for the tie, so it's tough."

Price played in his 552nd game for the Canadiens to move past Patrick Roy for second all-time in games played among Montreal goalies. Jacques Plante tops the list with 556.

Byron scored his 14th of the season after a pretty assist from Tomas Plekanec with 11:15 left in the third period to put Montreal up 2-1.

Petry opened the scoring with 2:13 left in the first period when he deflected Karl Alzner's shot from the point past Lyon.

The Flyers tied it on the power play 7:18 into the second period when Patrick, one-timed Claude Giroux's pass from the slot past Price's glove side., replacing Simmonds on Philadelphia's top extra-man unit

Montreal goalie Carey Price missed practice Wednesday as the Canadiens' medical staff checked him out a day after he was struck on the mask by a shot in Philadelphia.

Coach Claude Julien said Price didn't suffer a concussion, but more would be known about his condition after tests are taken.

It is uncertain whether he'll play Thursday night when the New York Rangers visit the Bell Centre. The Canadiens recalled goalie Charlie Lindgren, from the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League., along with defenseman Noah Juulsen

"It has to do with the puck he got hit in the mask with, adidas Kris Letang jersey, but that's all we know now, who was struck by a short from Shayne Gostibehere in the second period of a 3-2 overtime loss.," Julien said about Price

Price appeared shaken up by the shot. He was checked out by a trainer on the ice but stayed in the game. While he allowed his first goal of the night shortly after, adidas Joe Pavelski jersey, he had a solid game in stopping 30 of 33 shots.

The Flyers took five or more penalties in eight of their first 25 games this season. Back then, secondary scoring was a huge issue. “For me, if you have to kill three or four minor penalties, now you’re draining the bench. You’re taking guys out of rhythm who aren’t killing penalties. There’s a lot of things that domino off that. Not just the obvious negative of giving up opportunities against a good power play.’’, you’re at a little bit of risk but you can get the job done,’’ Hakstol was saying after practice Wednesday. “But when you get in that five or six range

Lo and behold, had one such player., too, Konecny has played his way into first-line status, has become the sniper fans have been pining for eternally. Three forwards not on the first two lines have recorded 10 goals – Michael Raffl, Montreal, Scott Laughton, and Valtteri Filppula. Tuesday’s opponent

“One thing we’ve been able to do is have each line contribute,’’ Hakstol said. “Have each ‘D’ pairing contribute on a nightly basis. The more you’re playing five-on-five, I think you have a better chance to be in the game and really be in the fight.’’, the more often you’re going to get everybody involved in the game. That’s a big part of it. If there aren’t big time spans between shifts

Flyers finally win in Columbus on Sean Couturier's overtime goal

Chris Therien was a player and Keith Primeau their captain — and silent Robert Esche their goaltender du jour., When the Flyers last won in this building, George W. Bush was president, adidas Jake Allen jersey, Ken Hitchcock was the Flyers coach

That was way back in December 2005, once a home-grown Flyers prospect who was so frustrated with the team’s lack of faith in him that he threatened to return to Mother Russia if he was not dealt.,adidas Carter Hutton jersey, and the only parallel to be drawn is that, the Flyers were looking for a goalie to lean on. The Blue Jackets have such a person, like now, of course, in Sergei Bobrovsky

So they traded him. To the Blue Jackets. And for the last six seasons he has only added to the Flyers’ futility in Nationwide Arena, and against this team. He entered Friday night with a 6-0-0 record against his old team here, with a 1.29 goals-against average and .954 save percentage.

It was going to take a herculean effort for the Flyers to emerge with two points Friday night.

52 seconds of overtime.,And that’s exactly what they got. From Michal Neuvirth’s playoff-worthy 35-save performance to a disciplined and diligent effort to clear the scraps in front of the net that that kind of performance requires, the Flyers won precisely the kind of game they have lost here. They rode Wayne Simmonds’ tip-in goal midway through the second period almost to the end of the game, rallying from another late gut-punch goal to win it in on Sean Couturier’s wrist shot at 1 minute

“You never want to give up a late goal like that,” said Couturier. “Especially two games in a row. But we refocused on what was next and we came back and battled to get that extra point. And that’s what matters.”

will play the Rangers in New York at noon Sunday.,Here’s what also matters. The victory pushed the Flyers’ point total to 68, two behind second-place Pittsburgh with a game in hand. The Flyers, who will practice here tomorrow

a lead the Flyers worked tirelessly to protect.,Couturier’s goal, produced by yet another dazzling turnover forced by Travis Konecny, answered Cam Atkinson’s game-tying backhander from a scrum at 16:32 of the third period, negating the 1-0 lead Simmonds had provided halfway through the second

This was not your typical no-chances close game.

“A tight, grinding game,” said Flyers coach Dave Hakstol. “But there were some great opportunities in both directions. Both teams made enough plays for it to be more than a 1-1 game.”

to deflect it over the net.,And that was just the first period. One minute Bobrovsky was sprawling to stop Jordan Weal swooping in alone. A few minutes later, Couturier was denied in close. Bobrovsky’s best save of that period was a filthy theft of Claude Giroux on a three-on-one midway through. Konecny’s mid-ice strip on the right triggered the jailbreak, or stick, and his saucer pass to Giroux from Bobrovsky’s left side to Giroux’s stick on the other side was on the tape. Giroux fired high, and somehow Bobrovsky got enough of his blocker

On the other end, directing the puck to the side of a wide-open net.,adidas Martin Jones jersey, Lukas Sedlak couldn’t get enough on a two-on-one rebound, Neuvirth did his share of sprawling too, and sometimes the Flyers sprawled right with him. They were credited with 19 blocked shots, and there were countless missed nets as players on both sides sought desperately to find holes. Just under the seven-minute mark,Authentic Alex Pietrangelo jersey, the Blue Jackets 17, Neuvirth stopped Artemi Panarin point-blank after an unlucky bounce put the puck on his stick. Later, Nick Foligno shot just wide of the net amid some of the aforementioned mayhem. With about four minutes left in the period

Still, given that Columbus had averaged more than 50 shots in three straight games, adidas Vladimir Tarasenko jersey, holding the Blue Jackets to one goal and 36 shots in a game that went to overtime constitutes a great defensive effort.

and make the next play.”,“We’re more and more comfortable in these games,” said Hakstol. “We’ve won a lot of these games, and that’s a lot of credit to our guys staying with it. We give up a late goal off a shot block and it doesn’t rattle anything on our bench a bit. We just go right back on the next shift

It appears Philadelphia has found their answer at goaltender for the stretch run,Authentic Carter Hutton jersey, the 26-year-old will likely start guarding the cage as soon as he's settled in -- especially if Neuvirth's injury turns out to be week-to-week., as with Brian Elliott (lower body) sidelined for another 4-to-5 weeks and Michal Neuvirth (lower body) injured in Sunday's 7-4 victory over the Rangers, the position was a gigantic question mark. Mrazek's numbers haven't been overly impressive in 2017-18, as he's put up a .910 save percentage and 2.89 GAA in 22 games, and Mrazek could see an increase in the win column as well -- they've posted a 22-8-3 record since a 10 game losing streak in early December. While starting Tuesday against Nashville might be to much to ask, but could see an uptick in the city of brotherly love. Philadelphia's defense has excelled in keeping pucks away from their netminder, as its 30.3 shots allowed per game is tied for fifth best in the league

Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds will be out for 2-to-3 weeks after suffering an upper-body injury in Sunday’s win over the New York Rangers.

Simmonds has 20 goals and 37 points in 59 games this season for Philadelphia, which hosted Montreal on Tuesday night. He was involved in a first-period tussle in Sunday’s game and landed a fight-ending left hand to the side of Tony DeAngelo’s helmet.

Simmonds joins a growing list of injured Flyers. Starting goalie Brian Elliott had surgery Feb. 13 for a core muscle injury and is expected to miss up to five more weeks. Backup Michal Neuvirth will be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks after suffering a lower body injury in Sunday’s game.

Philadelphia acquired goalie Petr Mrazek from Detroit on Monday night for a pair of draft picks to fill the void. Mrazek was listed as Alex Lyon’s backup on Tuesday.

That’s five straight years of either being out of it completely or done in one series. The Flyers are in a playoff spot and should keep it as long as they can stay competitive the tight race of the Metropolitan Division.

“It’s kind of weird,” Voracek admitted Tuesday. “I’m not used to it at all.”

” general manager Ron Hextall thinks he owes it to the group to go for it.,Typically, this time of year the Flyers are trying to scratch and claw back into the playoff picture. And even with both of the team’s top goalies — Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth — injured for more than a month, and Simmonds out for the next couple weeks with an “upper-body injury

He pulled the trigger on a trade Monday night to acquire goalie Petr Mrazek from the Detroit Red Wings. Mrazek was part of a system similar to Philly’s, a platoon with no clear No. 1. That’s changed now.

Mrazek will shoulder the load for the Flyers in the final 21 games after Alex Lyon got Tuesday’s start against the Montreal Canadiens.

“I didn’t feel like it was fair to not have a proven NHL goaltender for this team,” Hextall said. “That’s the reason we acted. Our focus right now is to make the playoffs and if we make the playoffs, we’ll go from there.”

but that really sends a statement. Throughout the 10-game losing streak he didn’t come in and scream at us. He told us he believed in us and that meant a lot to us. He’s repaying us for that right now.”,“It’s a tough position for him to be in, for us to be in,” defenseman Andrew MacDonald said. “For him to go out and kind of pull the trigger right away to make that happen, it instills a lot of confidence in the team. We knew all along that he had the confidence in us

“I was moving too much,” he said. “I was all over the place. I tried to stay in the blue paint more and if the puck comes to you, if you find it you can have it. I adjusted that.”

Now comes another adjustment.

There’s not going to be a platoon here like there was in Detroit. Lyon may get the occasional game here and there, but Mrazek will be the one the Flyers trot out there in big situations and unless Elliott has a very quick recovery, Mrazek will likely be the playoff starter when and if the time comes. Some goalies are comfortable with the competition of a platoon. Mrazek is more comfortable not looking over his shoulder at Detroit’s Jimmy Howard.

’ I think it’s better.”,Authentic Martin Jones jersey,“The pressure for both of us was pretty high, adidas Brent Burns jersey,” he said. “You have to show up every night if you want to play the next game. I don’t think it’s a bad thing. It’s a really good thing when we can battle between goalies and do the best that we can. Sometimes when they say, ‘you’re the guy who’s gonna play for a while

There wasn’t much of a chance of the Flyers being sellers at next Monday’s trade deadline, Authentic Brent Burns jersey, but Hextall’s aggressive move to acquire Mrazek shows it’s quite the opposite situation.

“It just shows that management trusts this group and that’s what you want as a player,Authentic Vladimir Tarasenko jersey,” Couturier said.

it’s huge. You kind of need that in the long run.”,“We all know how patient Hexy is in developing guys and everything.adidas Alex Pietrangelo jersey, Now we’re kind of in a tough situation injury-wise, but to see that he goes and gets an experienced goalie,Authentic Jake Allen jersey, veteran goalie

Morgan Frost is having the latter because his hot streak never seems to end. Even though Canada won gold in the World Junior Championships, it seems hard to fathom they never gave Frost a look for the tournament.

The 18-year-old center who grew up in the Toronto Maple Leafs press box where his dad was the public address announcer might be the first member of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to win an Ontario Hockey League scoring title in 37 years. The Flyers’ first-round pick topped the leaderboard by one point heading into Saturday night’s action.

Chicago Bears offseason positional analysis: Outside Linebackers

Pernell McPhee is just 29, but he's been playing on borrowed time for years because of knee problems that have limited him to 17 starts in three years with the Bears. With just 14 sacks in those three seasons, it's obvious McPhee is, at best, a decent situational pass rusher. If the Bears decide to continue cutting salary, his $7.2 million base this year and $7.63 million next year could be one of the next places they look.

Veterans Sam Acho and Lamarr Houston can test free agency but could both be back as role players. Acho has additional value on special teams, while Houston had an unexpected five sacks in five December games, after he was cut by the Texans and re-signed by the Bears when injuries sidelined Floyd and McPhee. Houston will be 31 by training camp, but he had eight sacks for the Bears in 2015 before a torn ACL limited him to two games in 2016.

Willie Young has 26 sacks since 2014, more than any other Bear, even though he played just four games last season before a torn triceps ended his season. Young is 32, but he led the Bears with 7 ? sacks in 2016, and prior to last season, he had missed just two games in five years.

Acquiring an impact pass rusher in free agency is a longshot, since most teams don’t let them escape. And three of this year’s best — the Cowboys’ DeMarcus Lawrence, the Lions’ Ziggy Ansah and the Falcons’ Adrian Clayborn — are better off as defensive ends in 4-3 schemes. Washington’s Trent Murphy would fit better in the Bears’ scheme, he’s just 27, and he had a career-best nine sacks last year.

The draft has plenty of pass-rush talent, but it will go quickly, as it always does, partly because there is always a tendency to overdraft at the position.

but he could be gone by the time the Bears pick. He has the size to excel at defensive end in a 4-3 and the speed and agility to be an impact player at outside linebacker in a 3-4.,North Carolina State’s Bradley Chubb is the consensus best in class

There are five other edge rushers who could go in the first round, especially if you include Virginia Tech’s Tremaine Edmunds, a 4-3 linebacker who projects to any LB spot in that scheme and could be just as good as an outside linebacker in a 3-4.

A lot will happen between now and the 2018 NFL Draft. Whether it's a blockbuster trade or a huge offseason signing, teams with gaping holes currently at quarterback will have some clarity about the position in the coming weeks. That means Kirk Cousins will be somewhere other than Washington, AJ McCarron will almost certainly move on from Cincinnati and the Vikings and Eagles will have decided whether Case Keenum (who could be franchised) and Nick Foles' (who could be traded) miraculous seasons warrant keeping them around for another season.

Whatever happens, the bottom line remains the same: in the NFL, you're only as good as your quarterback. It's why the Texans signed Brock Osweiler to a $72 million deal two offseasons ago, and it's why the Bears gave Mike Glennon a three-year deal last year. Neither player worked out -- which just about everyone predicted -- but desperate times, as they say.

So expect those clubs that have languished without a franchise passer to be bold as the draft approaches. Two years ago, had thrown for 1, the Eagles traded up to take Carson Wentz. Last year, the Texans did the same to get Deshaun Watson. Wentz was a legit MVP candidate until he suffered a knee injury in mid-December. And Watson, in six starts,699 yards with 19 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 103.0 passer rating until a knee injury sidelined him in early November.

and proceeded to go 1-31 since 2016. Which is why they're taking a QB in the first round this year -- even if they sign a veteran -- the only question is when.,This is where we point out that the Browns passed on both quarterbacks

Meanwhile, are officially in the market for a franchise passer,Womens Justin Britt Jersey, a team that made the playoffs for the first time since 1999 in spite of their quarterback, should use the draft to address that pressing need. The Bills, who were so unimpressed with Tyrod Taylor last season that they benched him for unproven rookie Nathan Peterman in Week 11 only to reinsert Taylor back into the lineup at halftime after Peterson threw five interceptions, and they'll use one of their two first-round picks to land him. (And for our purposes here, we have the Bills trading the No. 21 pick in 2018 plus a future first-round pick to Denver for the right to move up to the fifth-overall pick.)

others by necessity.,a simple thanks to all of you that read this column. Among the enjoyable aspects of playing fantasy football is the roster maneuvering: Some people are wheelers and dealers by nature

an upcoming roster move may be to modify the back end of your bench. Others may need to make a final push by tracking players with significant upside. Or perhaps you're looking for a defense with a favorable stretch at some point later on in the season (we'll include a look at some of those in this week's column).,Womens Jeremy Lane Jersey,For many of you

No matter the move you're seeking, thanks to all of those that have read along this year. We're far from over,Authentic Jameis Winston Jersey, as we'll keep addressing your waiver wire needs all season long. But as we head into the regular season finale and on the heels of Thanksgiving, it's a good time to say thank you to all of you. The support means the world.

Keenum has been just remarkable for the Vikings, helping this team to a 9-2 record and putting up serious numbers along the way. Over his past four games he has averaged 21.53 fantasy points per game and has 10 total touchdowns. It's time to take him very seriously as a top 12 quarterback option each week. He should be rostered by anyone that either has concerns about their current starter (Dak Prescott,Womens Jon Ryan Jersey, for example) or has a quarterback with a difficult matchup in a future week (Matthew Stafford versus Baltimore this week, for example). An add in all leagues.

After a two-touchdown performance and season-high 15 total touches in Week 12, the Patriots running back has further cemented his spot in this offense. While Dion Lewis has established himself as the team's top runner in traditional rushing situations (first/second down), Burkhead is a major part of the offense and adds plenty of value in points per reception scoring with RB2 upside. He should be added in all leagues.

With Doug Martin leaving the Buccaneers' Week 12 game against the Falcons with a concussion, two scores), Rodgers saw his role increase. He handled eight carries for 31 yards,Womens Cliff Avril Jersey, and while it was Peyton Barber that found the end zone twice (five carries, seven yards, Rodgers projects as the starter if Martin cannot play in Week 13. He would be on the flex radar for all leagues, especially in non-PPR scoring.

A true wild card, as Gordon's immense talent cannot be questioned. However we just don't know just how much of a role he will have within the Cleveland offense, and while his 2013 seasons was remarkable, he had just five pedestrian games in the 2014 season. But if you're in the position to use a flexible bench spot on a player, Gordon is a potential difference-maker that you should absolutely consider rolling the dice on.

The attention this week will be paid to Gordon, although Coleman is on the radar as well. He remains the Browns' top target in the passing game with nine catches for 144 yards on 19 targets in two games since being activated from injured reserve. In a league with 12 or more teams, Coleman is on the flex radar in PPR scoring. He's a high-end WR4.

Josh McCown, QB, New York Jets (32.6 percent): Another quarterback that has performed above expectations, McCown is -- perhaps quietly -- a top 15 player at the position this season. He threw for over 300 yards and racked up north of 25 fantasy points against the Panthers in Week 12. His Week 13 matchup against Kansas City makes him a compelling streaming option, as the Chiefs rank in the bottom six in terms of passing yards allowed this season. The schedule for McCown gets more difficult after that, but his play has been too good to look past. He'll be a top-15 option this week.

Martavis Bryant, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers (41.5 percent): While the Steelers await the return of JuJu Smith-Schuster from a hamstring injury, Bryant figures to be more featured in the passing offense. He had four catches and a touchdown in Week 12 -- he nearly had a second touchdown on a rushing attempt and added another end zone target -- which gives him value in 12-team (or larger) leagues if Smith-Schuster sits out in Week 13. He's a player whose talent is well known and who may have an opportunity to see another large role this Monday versus the Bengals.

Zay Jones, the second-round pick who has improved of late. He's also been busy, WR, Buffalo Bills (10.2 percent): As Kelvin Benjamin recovers from a recently sustained knee injury, the door is open to more of a role for Jones, with 24 targets over his past three games, including two separate games with a touchdown. Jones should see a steady role until Benjamin returns and adds intrigue for someone look to add a talented player to their bench.

Josh Doctson, WR, Washington Redskins (48.0 percent): The second-year pro has made some strides of late, making good late in the Thanksgiving game with a touchdown in the closing minutes over the Giants. Jamison Crowder has clearly cemented his spot as the top pass-catcher in this offense, but Doctson is a flex consideration in 12-team (or larger) leagues.

Rod Smith, RB, Dallas Cowboys (20.5 percent): While Alfred Morris still has a decided role until Ezekiel Elliott returns in Week 16, Smith is also in the mix in Dallas. He toted the football nine times in Week 12 and added two catches (he scored the team's lone touchdown). Dallas' offense is anemic at the moment, but Smith has value in a deeper league with points-per-reception scoring. If Dallas trails in a game, Smith gives them their best option at back.

Ricky Seals-Jones, has been red-hot during a two-game stretch. He has seven catches for 126 yards and three touchdowns during that time, TE, Arizona Cardinals (1.5 percent): What an awesome story. Seals-Jones, a college wide receiver who transitioned to tight end as he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent this year, infusing the Cardinals passing game with some much needed production. The touchdowns surely wont keep up at this pace, but he will enter the TE2 radar because the athletic upside that he has is obvious.

Dontrelle Inman, WR, Chicago Bears (5.5 percent): Inman has quickly stepped into a prominent role for the Bears passing offense, as he has 22 targets in just three games since being acquired via trade. The former Chargers has 13 catches in those games, two of which have resulted in double digit efforts in PPR scoring. In a deeper league (14 or 16 teams), Inman is a flex consideration.

Josh Reynolds, WR, Los Angeles Rams (0.3 percent): The Rams continue to roll on offense, and a Week 13 win was helped by Reynolds. With Robert Woods out,Authentic Jeremy Lane Jersey, and he made good on the opportunity with four catches for 37 yards and a touchdown. In a deep league, Authentic K. J. Wright Jersey,Reynolds saw his role spike, he's a player to consider as a flex option until Woods returns, which might not be until Week 14.

Seth Roberts, the Raiders are thin at receiver. In a deeper league,Authentic Jon Ryan Jersey, WR (0.3 percent) and Cordarrelle Patterson,Authentic Cliff Avril Jersey, WR, Oakland Raiders (0.6 percent): With news that Michael Crabtree has been suspended for two games and Amari Cooper is dealing with a concussion and sprained ankle, rolling the dice with either of these players makes sense. Roberts might be a slightly steadier play for volume, while Patterson offers more upside. Johnny Holton is another deep-league play to consider.

The rookie out of Oklahoma has played in just two games for Jacksonville, which will angle to be a run-first offense in every week. But he had 10 targets in Week 12 after six in Week 11. Much like Reynolds,Womens K. J. Wright Jerseyhe's a deep league flex consideration whose value is likely tied to his volume.

It's been quite the carousel of running backs in Seattle, ,Womens Mike Alstott Jersey, but if you play in a deep league and need a last minute running back option for your flex, McKissic might present the best Seahawks running back value in PPR scoring, where he has two 10-plus points games in the past three outings. He's a former wide receiver in college who has 13 catches over his past three games.

Another deep league consideration, as Davis looked good in his brief stint as the starter in Week 11 before suffering a groin injury. Early indications are that he will be back in Week 13,Authentic Mike Alstott Jersey, albeit against an outstanding Eagles defense. However, he's a name to keep in mind in deep leagues to roster for bench depth purposes. He could retake a starting role in Seattle.

While Melvin Gordon is the starter in the L.A. backfield, Ekeler has emerged as a productive backup. If you play in a very deep league and need an option in PPR scoring, Ekeler is a name to consider as he has 10-plus points in four of five games. The Chargers could play with a lead against a struggling Browns team in Week 13, which would in theory carve out some late-game playing time for Ekeler.

Franchise-tag predictions: Which teams will and won't use them

For all the consternation about the franchise tag in the NFL, it has been a decreasingly used tool for teams to shackle players in recent years. After a whopping 21 players were given the franchise tag in 2012, only 37 have been tagged in the five years since — an average of just more than seven per offseason.

which would guarantee a high one-year tender at the very least.,That’s about what we expect in 2018, give or take a player or two. Expect no more than 10 franchise candidate this offseason. Two key free agents — Drew Brees and Nate Solder — cannot be tagged by the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots, respectively, based on language in their contracts. But most other standout players are eligible for the designation

Here’s a look at the players who most likely will be limited in their options, either by the franchise tag (exclusive or non-exclusive) or the seldom-used transition tag, starting Tuesday up through the March 6 deadline.

We admit that we predicted the possibility of Bell playing elsewhere in 2018 based on the Steelers’ heavy usage of him, Bell’s strange and notably late arrival prior to the playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the unwieldy cost of what it might take to sign Bell long term for a player who might have a Larry Johnson-esque career arc.

But all signs point to the Steelers wanting to get a deal done. Look no further than GM Kevin Colbert’s strong,Authentic Doug Martin Jersey, proactive statement to NFL Network that the team wants to keep Bell for the remainder of his career.

Still, that’s no guarantee they can make something happen in time. The Steelers must protect themselves by tagging Bell, even with his January threats to consider sitting out the season if tagged for a second straight year. They can’t afford to let him go and can use the leverage (or the threat of tagging him) to spur negotiations.

In the end, Cousins’ would-be replacement.,Authentic T.J. Ward Jersey, we don’t think it happens. Yes, Cousins’ camp easily could file a grievance that the tag, the team has let it be known they could tag Cousins for a third straight year (incurring a tender of a whopping $34.5 million) in an effort to trade him. However,Womens T.J. Ward Jersey, which was designed to be a tool to re-sign players long term, was not applied in good faith — especially after Washington reportedly agreed to trade for Alex Smith

Washington almost certainly would lose that battle in front of an arbiter. It made its own bed on this one. The team might be forced to watch Cousins sign elsewhere, and it will settle for eventually receiving a third-round compensatory pick in 2019 for that.

and everyone knows this.,Womens Bryan Anger Jersey,The Cowboys have no choice. Lawrence put together his best season to date, with a career-best 14.5 sacks and his first Pro Bowl honor in 2017, in a contract season. Solid timing. The Cowboys have to build the defense, not let quality pieces get away

Health is a bit of an issue following multiple back surgeries, but Lawrence is still young (he turns 26 in April) and should have a bright future notwithstanding. This scheme is reliant on front-four pressure, and Lawrence is a crucial cog.

too. Would they consider cutting Dez Bryant? That’s a tough call.,The question here is whether the Cowboys are satisfied with having Lawrence sign his one-year tender (at a cost of $17.5 million or more), which would swallow up more of the roughly $20 million in cap space they currently have. Other key players,Womens Nick Folk Jersey, such as Zach Martin, must be signed long-term

We get the feeling that getting a long-term deal done with Lawrence prior to free agency isn’t super likely. The Cowboys once more must perform some cap acrobatics to make the roster work.

and his age (a reported 29 as of May) has been questioned following conflicting reports from his native Ghana.,Short of working out a long-term deal, the Lions might have no choice but to tag Ansah. After a slow start last season, he finished strong and the Lions have few other reliable pass-rush sources for new head coach Matt Patricia to work with. Ansah’s health concerns are notable

We feel a one-year tag and tender makes the most sense. The Lions can incur the pricy hit of roughly $17.5 million because they have more than $40 million in cap space and easily can create more with a few cuts. They almost have to keep the occasionally brilliant but sometimes frustrating talent this way in order to protect themselves and perhaps coax a career season out of Ansah in 2018.

and it would be tough in a shorthanded secondary to see him walk.,A few vague reports circulated that Fuller would be playing elsewhere, but what they didn’t consider was the Bears’ ability to significantly prevent that. Tagging Fuller might not be ideal, but he did have a strong rebound season in 2017 (after the Bears previously declined his fifth-year option)

Written by legendary sportswriter Grantland Rice and bookended by ads for 10-cents-a-day typing courses and a beautiful back-page display for Chesterfield cigarettes, this trade publication was one of four football-related titles trotted out by the Fiction House company between 1921 and 1955.

But it’s the only magazine to get a shout out from the Pro Football Researcher’s Association during their deep dive into the first NFL draft, which took place 82 years ago at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia. Back then, it was this 86-page booklet that served as a scouting bible of sorts for the 10 owners building for the futures of their franchises.

“Owners used to do did three things, can you confirm or deny it?’ Three, Authentic Nick Folk Jersey, they read all the local and regional newspapers they could find. Two,” Upton Bell, the son of former NFL commissioner and draft pioneer Bert Bell, and the one-time youngest general manager in NFL history told me, they all got on the phone with their friends. For instance, they would read that magazine.”, “One, an owner might call Bear Bryant and say ‘O.K., I read the clippings on this player

the best coaches and general managers are the ones who simply trust their most basic instincts and ignore the noise.,As we head into draft season and the latest rendition of The NFL Draft Column,Womens Jameis Winston Jersey, I think it’s important to start at the beginning. Today, the information overload is significant. There is an entire cottage industry of draftniks who need to do little other than master the language to sound important. The Art of Fluff. As Bell told me in a recent conversation,Womens Doug Martin Jersey, “Now the draft has more trolls than Russia.” There are scouting reports atop scouting reports. Endless mock drafts. Landfills full of misfired draft rumors. And still

Sidney Luckman of Columbia: “Once in a blue moon, a sophomore springs full-panoplied from the shield of Jove—if you’ll excuse our waxing classical—clad in the shining armor of a game without a weakness. Such a youngster is Sid Luckman of Columbia who bobbed up at Morningside Heights just in time to double for Al Barabas of Rose Bowl fame. Luckman is as powerful and as fleet as Barabas and infinitely more versatile.”

‘Irish’ Carroll of Catholic U: “Speaking of Irishmen reminds me—Catholic University at Washington D.C. has a dyed in the wool Gael, who can lug that apple for all the traffic will bear. His name is Maurice Carroll. But nobody on the C.U. campus calls the Baldwinsville Bullet that. He’s plain ‘Irish’ to the gang and pure poison to the enemy.”

so good in fact that he has made Fordham fans forget such crack centers as Del Isola and Tony Siano.”,Authentic Lamar Miller Jersey,Wojciechowicz of Fordham: “’If you cant pronounce ‘em, they’re good.’ That old wise-crack of Knute Rockne’s comes to mind when you try to twist your tongue around Alexander Wojciechowicz’s consonant-dotted name. This rugged Polish giant from South River, N.J., is plenty good

“Have you ever seen a buffalo charging? Well,Authentic Bryan Anger Jersey, that’s Sherman Chavoor as he pounds down field in the shadow of a punt. Southern California seems to grow big crack centers the way it grows ripe juicy oranges. Chavoor is a prize specimen.Authentic Brian Cushing Jersey, A brick wall on defense, a bearcat at mussing up plays that come his way.”

As Bell notes, tried out for the Olympics and worked at a rubber factory in Chicago). Two players drafted in the first 13 the following year—Sammy Baugh and Ace Parker—both were enshrined in Canton.,Womens Lamar Miller Jersey, even back then without today’s encyclopedic draft content, there were teams drafting with startlingly good results. Seven of the 81 players taken that year made a Pro Bowl; four—Joe Stydahar, Tuffy Leemans, Wayne Millner and Dan Fortmann—were elected into the Hall of Fame. And that’s without Jay Berwanger, the first Heisman Trophy winner and arguably the most talented player in the class, who never played a single down of professional football (he balked at the salary

Because what's the point in predicting how the top QB prospects will go off the board in April before we know which clubs in March could attempt to fill their franchise QB voids in a rare offseason with viable veteran alternatives?

PFW editors Arthur Arkush, Eric Edholm and Hub Arkush this week are predicting how the vet QB market shakes out, continuing with Eric's mock of where everyone lands and for how much.

I’ll admit to not fully buying into this marriage at first for a few reasons. One, it felt like a pretty drastic evacuation from the formula that won this team a lot of games last season. I also couldn’t escape the loyalty the Vikings appeared to have for Teddy Bridgewater, nor could I fathom how the team could juggle the salary cap in order to keep its core of talent in place.

Oh sure, among others., they’re in good shape now with just under $50 million in cap space and they can create more by releasing a few players (Sharrif Floyd, Latavius Murray, Jarius Wright) if they want to. But there’s the matter of the hoard of 2019 free agents: Eric Kendricks, Stefon Diggs, Anthony Barr, Danielle Hunter and Trae Waynes

But GM Rick Spielman has overseen good cap management the past few years, and I suspect the Vikings coaches feel they reached a glass ceiling with Case Keenum. Can Cousins get them there? After a devastating playoff exit, the Vikings just might be motivated enough to find out.

One other factor: Cousins might get offered more money elsewhere, from the New York Jets or whomever. But after earning $44 million the past two seasons, he might not be as financially motivated as some have speculated. We just think he wants to be wanted and wants to win.

Former Penn State defensive tackle Devon Still signed to Texans reserve/future contract

Former Nittany Lion defensive tackle Devon Still announced via his Instagram page on Wednesday afternoon that Bill O’Brien and the Houston Texans have signed him to a reserve contract.

The news came the same week his daughter Leah, is scheduled for her last treatment., who has been battling Stage 4 neuroblastoma since 2014

” Still wrote via Instagram. “I just signed a contract to get back to doing what I love. I would say this week is a good week! I told myself from day one with Leah’s diagnosis I would give her my all and sacrifice my career because if I lost her to cancer I could never get her back, but if I lost football,“Leah’s last treatment is Friday, given the right opportunity,Womens Brian Cushing Jersey, I could get it back. Thanks to the Texans for giving me that opportunity!”

Taking over the mantle of the longest-tenured Texan will be two players. Cornerback Kareem Jackson was the team’s first-round pick in 2010 and has been a fixture ever since. But so has Jon Weeks, who also joined the team on draft weekend in 2010.

and you’re forgiven for not recognizing him right away. He’s the Texans long snapper,Authentic Johnathan Joseph Jersey, and he’s one of the NFL’s better players at his position. Long snappers can linger in a single city for years,Weeks doesn’t get much notoriety, and the undrafted free agent from Baylor is under an affordable contract through the 2019 season.

The Texans released Brian Cushing on Tuesday,Womens Duane Brown Jersey, ending his nine-year run with the team and making the former Bergen Catholic star a free agent for the first time in his career.

So what’s next for Cushing? It’s hard to say.

when he played five games,Cushing is 31 and showed at the end of last season, that he’s still capable of contributing. But he could also walk away after making more than $45 million in his career.

Tuesday,Womens Xavier Su'a-Filo Jersey, Cushing made no mention of retiring in a farewell Instagram post to Houston. But he also gave no indication of what’s next.

If Cushing does want to keep playing, there’s likely a spot for him in the league — if he’s willing to take far less than the $7 million-plus he was slated to make in 2018. He’s a savvy player who was highly-regarded in the Texans’ locker room. But his days as a dominant defensive force are over. Cushing hasn’t been the same player since he missed 20 of 32 possible games in 2012-13 because of injury. Any team that picks him up now will be hoping that Cushing can contribute as a situational defender and as a leader.

With the start of the new league year — and free agency — slated for March 14, it’s the first of what is expected to be a series of moves by the Bears as general manager Ryan Pace positions the club for what will be an interesting player-acquisition period.

with 51 players under contract and roughly $39.7 million in available room,Womens Deshaun Watson Jersey,The Bears already were flush with salary-cap room — they ranked 11th in the league before the move, an impossible figure to nail down with the exact number not yet announced.

Now, they have more room. But this and future moves aren’t about cap space; they’re about roster fits and production.

31,Womens Zach Cunningham Jersey, suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the season-opening loss to the Falcons in September, which shut him down for the year. Later,Freeman, he was suspended for 10 games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, his second suspension in as many seasons.

$12 million contract in 2016,Signed to a three-year, he was due to earn $3.5 million. Releasing him will clear $3.5 million in cap space. Freeman made 86 tackles and defended four passes in 2016.

$11 million deal that included $6 million guaranteed, all of it in 2017. Wheaton had his appendix removed during training camp,Wide receiver Markus Wheaton was rarely healthy last season. He was still rehabilitating from shoulder surgery when the Bears signed him to a two-year,Womens Johnathan Joseph Jersey, suffered a broken finger that required surgery when he returned and then a groin muscle injury that forced him out of three games in the middle of the season. He made just three receptions for 51 yards and played just 64 snaps in the final eight games he was active for. Wheaton is due $5 million this season and releasing him will clear that much in cap space.

who turns 33 in June, who was coming off a career-best season with the Texans in which he made six interceptions, has an uncertain future. The Bears have a promising free safety in Eddie Jackson,Authentic Duane Brown Jersey, and Adrian Amos is coming off his finest season and entering a contract year. Demps, was limited to three games with the Bears as he suffered a fractured left forearm. The Bears hoped Demps would return from injured reserve, but nerve damage in his arm following surgery complicated matters,Authentic Xavier Su'a-Filo Jersey,Safety Quintin Demps, and they wound up shutting him down. He is owed nearly $3.6 million, and releasing him will create $3.26 million in cap space.

logging only 47 snaps the remainder of the season. The Bears figured he would emerge as their No. 1 cornerback after he made four interceptions opposite Patrick Peterson with the Cardinals in 2016,Authentic Deshaun Watson Jersey, but he struggled, seemed to lose confidence and was relegated to backup duty when Kyle Fuller thrived. Cooper was signed to a three-year,Cornerback Marcus Cooper fell out of favor after starting the first four games,Authentic Zach Cunningham Jersey, $16 million contract with $6 million guaranteed. His base salary for 2018 is $5 million, $2 million of which becomes guaranteed March 16. Releasing Cooper would create $4.5 million in cap space.

32, played four games in 2017 before a torn triceps forced him to injured reserve. He is entering the final year of the extension he signed at the start of training camp in 2016. He is due $3.5 million in base salary and a $1 million roster bonus. Releasing Young would create $3.6 million in cap space. Young has been productive when healthy,Authentic D'Onta Foreman Jersey,Outside linebacker Willie Young, which makes the Bears’ decision with him difficult — they have clear holes that need to be filled at the position.

Registration Act, which requires state agencies that help people with disabilities to also offer help with registering to vote or updating voter registration information.

which was phased out in 2016, to the workforce commission, lawyers for the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities said in a warning letter,That registration aid was no longer offered when job training duties were moved from the state Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, sent Feb. 12 to state officials, that threatened a lawsuit if the policy was not changed.

executive director of the workforce commission,In a reply letter dated Wednesday and signed by Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos and Larry Temple, the officials said work had begun toward offering voter-registration services as part of the agency’s job-training mission.

“your commitment to ensuring that disabled individuals and all eligible Texans have all the resources they need to exercise their rights to vote at the polls,” the letter concluded.

the voting rights program director with the Texas Civil Rights Project,Beth Stevens, applauded the action.

Pens’ coach says White House visit not a political stance

Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan insists the franchise’s decision to visit the White House does not mean the team is wading into the increasingly charged intersection of sports and politics.

Sullivan defended the decision Wednesday, stressing it did not serve as a signal that the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions are picking a side in the increasingly heated debate between President Donald Trump and NFL players who protest during the national anthem.

“I think there appears to be a perception out there that our organization has made a decision to accept the invitation to the White House that we have taken a stance on the issue,Authentic Eric Fisher Jersey, have chosen not to use this platform to take a stance. There appears to be a perception that we have, when the reality is,Womens Cairo Santos Jersey, it’s just the opposite, and it is wrong.”,” Sullivan said. “We haven’t taken any stance. The Penguins,Authentic Marcus Peters Jersey, as an organization and our players

The Penguins released a statement Sunday indicating they would attend a ceremony at the White House, a tradition for numerous championship teams.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby said Sunday that he supported the team’s choice to go to the White House, adding “everyone’s got the right to go or not go. But we’ve been invited and we accepted the invitation. I don’t think you have to read into it any more than that.”

” and Trump replying,Crosby faced criticism in his native Nova Scotia, with the hockey player saying, “I’m Donald the Baby.”, with the Halifax Chronicle Herald — Atlantic Canada’s largest-circulation newspaper — running an editorial cartoon Monday depicted Crosby meeting Trump in the Oval Office, “I’m Sid the Kid

with the fifth saying: “Remember your roots. You are from Cole Harbour,An opinion piece from two local professors offered six reasons for Crosby to stay home, the flashpoint of black and white race relations in Canada for the past 30 years. The parallels between your hometown and the U.S. today are too obvious to ignore.”

The Coast,A column in Halifax’s alternative weekly, compared Crosby to a notably apolitical singer: “The Taylor Swift of hockey has no problem joining his Stanley Cup-winning teammates in Washington.”

Halifax’s former poet laureate,One of Halifax’s most outspoken social activists, weighed in with a 900-word opinion piece that took the NHL star to task for failing to fall into line with other athletes. Jones, El Jones, noted that Crosby said there was “little to no discussion” in the locker room about the decision to visit the White House.

Sullivan defended Crosby from what the coach views as external pressure on the sport’s most popular player to make some sort of political statement.

we have respect for those that choose to express themselves differently. I wish we would receive the same respect in return,“The fact that people seem to think that Sid needs to bear this burden of responsibility is unfair, help the Penguins win championships and be a good person every day. That’s how we see it. Having said that,” Sullivan said. “This guy does nothing but go to the rink, and I wish our captain would as well.”

Former NHL player Georges Laraque called Pittsburgh’s decision “an embarrassment.”

Sullivan said “everyone is well aware of what’s going on” surrounding the anthem, though no Penguins have participated in any protests. San Jose Sharks forward Joel Ward told The Mercury News he wouldn’t rule out kneeling during the anthem.

Sullivan indicated neither he nor his players would talk further about the White House visit. Pittsburgh opens the regular season next Thursday.

“We want to play hockey, because that’s where our focus needs to be right now, our players want to play hockey,” Sullivan said. “That’s what we want to do, making sure we are prepared for game one.”, that’s what we love to do. From here on out,Womens Ron Parker Jersey, we’re going to answer questions revolving around playing hockey

The nature of the restructuring required is a complete mystery. This is because the full details of the deal itself never came to light.

giving them enviable depth down the middle alongside Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.,Here’s what we do know so far. The Pittsburgh Penguins were set to give up netminding prospect Filip Gustavsson, defenseman Ian Cole and a first round pick. In return, they were going to receive Ottawa Senators center Derick Brassard

The complications start with the introduction of a third team,Womens Allen Bailey Jersey, believed to be the Golden Knights.

It is rumoredthat the trade would involve sending Brassard to Las Vegas first. It appears that the idea behind this would be to allow both Vegas and Ottawa to retain salary on and massively reduce Derick Brassard’s cap hit.

including a first-rounder. New York also dealt Derick Brassard to the Penguins,The Rangers were among the most active teams as the deadline approached. This weekend, prospect Ryan Lindgren and two draft picks,Authentic Cairo Santos Jersey, New York traded longtime star Rick Nash to the Bruins as the rebuilding process gets underway at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers acquired forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey, giving Pittsburgh another formidable center.

Malkin has an amazing 20 goals and 37 points since Jan. 1. He has 34 goals this season, tied with fellow Russian Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals for the league lead.

” Penguins assistant coach Sergei Gonchar told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s an honor to be the top goal-scorer in the league. But if it (were) an American or Canadian (they were competing against),Womens Dustin Colquitt Jersey,“I do believe there’s a competition (among them), they’re going to compete just as hard.”

The Penguins continued their roll as well,  Authentic Dustin Colquitt Jersey, winning their sixth straight on Friday while also acquiring

forward Derick Brassard in a three-team trade with the Ottawa Senators and Vegas Golden Knights. The Penguins also received a 2018 third-round draft pick and prospect forward Vincent Dunn from the Senators; and the Pens also received prospect forward Tobias Lindberg from the Golden Knights.

and forward Ryan Reaves and a 2018 fourth-round draft pick originally acquired from Vancouver to the Golden Knights.,Pittsburgh traded defenseman Ian Cole, goalie Filip Gustavsson, a 2018 first-round draft pick and a 2019 third-round selection to the Senators

he had a career-best 27 goals with the New York Rangers,Brassard has averaged 19 goals and 48 points over the past five seasons (including this one factored in). Three years ago, so his addition strengthens the Penguins down the middle.

The Panthers are coming off an incredibly emotional game as they rallied with two goals in the final four minutes to defeat the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Thursday night.

Vincent Trocheck scored a power-play goal with 18.7 seconds left, and that stood as the game-winner.

But there was major drama before the game,Womens Eric Fisher Jersey, too.

Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo fought back tears as he spoke to the BB&T Center crowd just a couple of minutes before the start of the game.

spoke to the crowd about his admiration for the students,This was the Panthers’ first home game since last week’s deadly shooting at nearby Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland,Womens Marcus Peters Jersey, a resident of Parkland, Fla. Luongo, who have loudly pushed for change after yet another school shooting.

“I’ve been watching the news. I’ve been seeing what the kids from Douglas have been doing,” Luongo told the crowd. “You guys are brave. You guys are an inspiration to all of us. You guys are what is giving us hope for the future.”

Things should be a bit more normalized on Saturday, and the Panthers — winners of eight of their past 11 games — have thrust themselves into the playoff race.

with a team-high 55 points. Both have made the All-Star Game — Trocheck in 2017 and Barkov in 2018.,The Panthers are led by Trocheck, with a team-best 23 goals, and Aleksander Barkov

Another Panthers star is Jonathan Huberdeau, who leads the team with 36 assists.

The Penguins, two-time Stanley Cup MVP, meanwhile, have Malkin and the incomparable Sidney Crosby, two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time Stanley Cup champ.,Authentic Ron Parker Jersey, a seven-time All-Star, two-time regular season MVP

nobody has been hotter lately than Malkin,Then again,Authentic Allen Bailey Jersey, who has 11 goals and 18 points in his past seven home games.

you can’t take the puck off of him,“When he’s feeling it like this,” Crosby told the Post-Gazette. “He’s taking the puck from end to end. He’s taking it to the net. He’s shooting. He’s good in every area.

“You can tell he has that extra step. He has that right now.”

Jets take center stage after acquiring Paul Stastny from Blues

try,Authentic Cairo Santos Jersey,The saying goes that if you don't succeed, try again.

Kevin Cheveldayoff didn't give up when the Pittsburgh Penguins snatched up Derick Brassard,With that in mind,Womens Dustin Colquitt Jersey, or when the Toronto Maple Leafs swooped in and acquired Tomas Plekanec.

getting Paul Stastny from the St. Louis Blues., pulling the strings behind one of the best teams in the Western Conference and the entire NHL,Hours before the trade deadline, Cheveldayoff made a move that will make Winnipeg a better team

who turned out to be their guy — in Stastny, and the DNA of what in part can make a good team a Stanley Cup contender. When the Penguins acquired Brassard, they unquestionably had assembled the best No. 1-3 centers in the NHL. The Leafs got deeper down the middle in acquiring Plekanec. The Jets got their guy — or,You see the types of trades being made around the NHL, and it shows Winnipeg and Cheveldayoff and prepping for a head-to-head meeting with one of those heavy hitters come May or June.

and Nick Bonino (two of whom the Predators added following losing in the Cup Final a season ago)., their road to the West finals could go through Nashville — it means figuring out how to get past Ryan Johansen,Should the Jets come up against the Predators — and as Central Division rivals, Kyle Turris

Stastny isn't the near point-per game player he was in his years with the Colorado Avalanche, but still a very effective pivot who is going to be handed a pretty ideal situation in playing between two high-scoring wingers in Laine and Ehlers.

and with the addition of Stastny, and why shouldn't they? With Scheifele having returned from his injury and getting his feet back under him, the Jets have one of the best top lines in all of hockey,Everything about this trade screams that the Jets think they have enough in Winnipeg to play for the Stanley Cup this June, one of the deepest forward groups out there.

the Blues have dropped six straight game (0-5-1) and have slipped out of a playoff spot in the West for the first time all season., it would have been difficult to envision St. Louis making this trade,Fifteen days ago, but in the time since

and its realistic chances of winning it all this season., punctuated by an ugly 4-0 loss against the Nashville Predators on Sunday on national television,That stretch, probably told general manager Doug Armstrong and co. all they needed to know about their club

and more specifically the Central, the Blues are without injured defenseman Joel Edmundson right now, and still without forwards Zach Sanford and Robby Fabbri. The West,Womens Ron Parker Jersey,Yes, has such a glut of talent that being realistic about the hand your dealt is the only way not to look foolish going all-in on pocket six's.

If the Carolina Hurricanes are to make the Stanley Cup playoffs, it will be without any help at the NHL trade deadline.

The deadline came and went Monday and general manager Ron Francis stood pat,Womens Allen Bailey Jersey, making no significant move to improve a team that has lost its last five games and was three points out of a wild-card playoff position in the Eastern Conference

acquiring forward Greg McKegg from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Josh Jooris. McKegg was immediately assigned to the Charlotte Checkers,The Canes made one minor deal, the Canes’ AHL affiliate.

“We explored all things,Womens Eric Fisher Jersey,” Francis said after the 3 p.m. deadline. “Certainly we looked at a lot of pieces we could add to our lineup. I think the prices were pretty steep this time around in our eyes.

Evgenii Dadonov has hat trick, Panthers beat Penguins 6-4

Evgenii Dadonov scored with 1:53 to play to complete a hat trick and give the Panthers a 6-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.

Dadonov beat goalie Matt Murray on a one-timer off Aleksander Barkov's pass for the winner.

"We scored six goals. I guess you can't lose it if you score six. You're not supposed to. It was a tough game today,Authentic Jake Guentzel jersey," Dadonov said.

Trocheck, Keith Yandle and Alexander Petrovic added two assists,Authentic Joe Thornton jersey, Jamie McGinn and Derek MacKenzie also scored. Barkov had three assists, and Roberto Luongo made 24 saves.

"He's an elite goal scorer in this league and in this world,Authentic Brent Burns jersey," Barkov said about Dadonov. "He was scoring a lot of goals in Russia and it was just a matter of time when the puck starts going."

and Carl Hagelin,Evgeni Malkin had two goals and an assist for the Penguins, Patric Hornqvist and Bryan Rust added goals. Tristan Jarry made 13 saves for Pittsburgh before he was replaced in the second period. Murray had 11 saves in relief.

Trocheck finished a 2-on-1 cross-ice pass from Denis Malgin after a breakout pass from Yandle early in the first period. Trocheck tapped in the pass at 3:44 for his team-leading 24th goal.

The Penguins tied it when Hagelin tallied from the low slot,Authentic Vladimir Tarasenko jersey, scoring his eighth goal at 12:40.

Florida regained the lead with 39 seconds left when Dadonov collected a loose puck along the boards, beat Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin into the slot and whipped his 16th goal high on Jarry's glove side.

MacKenzie finished off a rebound at 8:12 for his third goal and a 4-1 Florida lead.

The Penguins then replaced Jarry with Murray,Authentic Steven Stamkos jersey, who beat Carolina the night before.

"Again, like a 2-on-1. They have 3-on-2s and 2-on-1s. If we played right, we'd win easily,Authentic Auston Matthews jersey, we had the same mistake, I think," Malkin said.

Malkin chipped in a pass from Rust at 13:10, and scored again 46 seconds into the third period by roofing a shot over Luongo.

Dadonov answered 58 seconds later when he one-timed a pass from Barkov for a 5-3 lead.

and while it seems major names like Erik Karlsson will stay put,The circus that is the NHL trade deadline is Monday, there are plenty of rumors surrounding other prominent players.

but Petr Mrazek became the first notable domino to fall when the Philadelphia Flyers snagged him from the Detroit Red Wings on Monday. However,Potential No. 1 goaltenders do not typically get moved in late February, recent reports indicate more trades are on the way.

The most buzz-worthy report came Saturday, writing on his personal blog "In The Slot, when's Lou Korac, adidas Jake Guentzel jersey," cited a source as saying the Senators and St. Louis Blues were in "serious talks" for a Hoffman deal. While that could have been the case, the latest rumors indicate the contrary.

Per TSN's Frank Seravalli, with Seravalli speculating it could have something to do with his chemistry with Duchene, adidas Joe Thornton jersey, it is "increasingly likely" Hoffman remains in Ottawa. Seravalli reported that general manager Pierre Dorion is less inclined to deal the sniper, who has 21 points in his past 19 games.

At 28,adidas Brent Burns jersey, including a career-best 61 points last year. While he may be having a bit of a down campaign, Hoffman's $5.19 million cap hit for the following two seasons is rather team-friendly considering his top-end scoring abilities. Hoffman topped the 25-goal mark in each of the previous three seasons, he could top that mark again given he's on 16 goals after 58 games.

Legitimate top-six scoring is hard to find, adidas Vladimir Tarasenko jersey, either at the deadline or this offseason, so having Hoffman reportedly off of the board is tough news for some contenders in need of more offensive punch. Should he become available again, adidas Steven Stamkos jersey, cap-strapped squads like the Blues or the Edmonton Oilers could be nice fits.

Ottawa would receive an awfully nice package as well, which would surely include a first-round pick and/or a top prospect.

Brassard is no stranger to being dealt. He was a key piece in the Rick Nash trade of 2013, the Rangers shipped Brassard to Ottawa for Mika Zibanejad, adidas Auston Matthews jersey, going with the power forward from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the New York Rangers. In July 2016, who is five years younger.

The center did well in a top-six role in New York, his offensive production has slightly dipped in the years since. He failed to top 40 points last season, putting up a combined 118 points from 2014 to 2016. However, and he has 35 points in 56 games this term.

Brassard has skill,Still, and his ability to play in all situations makes him a desirable asset to a contending team. The focus shifts to what the Senators believe he is worth and whether someone is willing to pay it.

Brassard could contribute in both special teams areas and solidify Pittsburgh's top nine, but is this move feasible?

Maple Leafs acquire Canadiens’ Tomas Plekanec in 4-player deal

and a 2018 second-round pick,The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired center Tomas Plekanec and winger Kyle Baun from the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman Rinat Valiev, forward Kerby Rychel, the teams announced Sunday. The deal solidifies the Leafs’ depth up the middle as the Habs begin selling off what they can to reload for next season.

Plekanec was one of the top rental players to be available on the market before the trade deadline Monday. He’s no longer the top two-way center that he was at his peak, but the 35-year-old is still a solid role player who has recorded 24 points in 60 games for Montreal this season.

and Tyler Bozak,The Leafs already had strong center depth with Auston Matthews, Nazem Kadri, so Plekanec will allow them to roll four lines deep up the middle if everyone is healthy.

and Evgeni Malkin at center,You can’t help but wonder if Toronto was partially compelled to make the move after the Pittsburgh Penguins landed center Derick Brassard in a three-team trade Saturday. The two-time defending Cup winners now have Brassard, Sidney Crosby, so the Leafs may have decided that they needed to strengthen their already impressive forward group.

In exchange for Plekanec and Baun, a throw-in AHL depth player,Authentic Jake Guentzel jersey, fans in Toronto will likely be pleased to see that top prospects like Kasperi Kapanen, the Maple Leafs gave up a trio of future assets. However,Authentic Matt Murray jersey, Timothy Liljegren, and Andreas Johnsson were retained while still adding a solid piece to the lineup.

Valiev was Toronto’s third-round pick (No. 68 overall) in 2014. He’s spent most of the past three seasons in the AHL, where he’s flashed potential but been unable to earn an opportunity on an improving Leafs team. Rychel was a 2013 first-round pick by Columbus who flamed out there before being dumped in Toronto,Authentic Joe Pavelski jersey, where the Leafs still managed to find some value in him as a piece to this trade.

Neither of those players is likely to be a major piece for Montreal, but they’re affordable depth pieces that could fill spots at the bottom of the NHL roster. The team also receive the Leafs’ second-round pick, Chicago’s, which now gives it four picks in the second round this year: Toronto’s,Authentic Patrick Marleau jersey, Washington’s, and its own. That’s six picks in the first three rounds for Montreal.

And as they wait for the phone to ring with the NHL trade deadline approaching, the Buffalo Sabres play on. Away from KeyBank Center,Authentic Joe Thornton jersey, the Sabres' road show continues to be a rousing success.

the Sabres are on their best road point streak since going 6-0-1 in 2011,It continues Saturday night in Capital One Arena against the Washington Capitals, with Buffalo at 5-0-1 in its last six road games following Thursday's 3-2 overtime buzzer-beater in Detroit. For a team that remains dead last in the Eastern Conference,Authentic Martin Jones jersey, their last playoff season.

" coach Phil Housley said after practice Friday in the Kettler Capitals Iceplex. "There's no distractions,"It just seems on the road we get focused, we're going to the game together and focused on winning hockey games. At home, we're on the bus together, it just seems like the mentality right now because of what happened is tough to get out of that rut. We have to simplify our game and not manufacture things that aren't there."

"We've come out and played simple hockey," said goaltender Robin Lehner. "The situation we're in as a team and organization right now is tough. We really want to do well at home and that might be a problem. I feel for the fans. We all want to be better for them so much, we do a little bit too much. The pressure is off on the road."

who scored to put Buffalo in front in the opening four minutes in Detroit. "We've played pretty well when we've had the lead. Yesterday was strong,"It helps a lot when you get the first goal and you have the lead," said defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen, almost a full 60 minutes for us."

"At home it gets in your head more when things aren't going the way you want," said winger Jason Pominville. "But your confidence really goes there when they're going well. It gets extreme. You want to make sure you win for the fans and bring that energy. Sometimes it just doesn't happen and it becomes very negative.

"On the road, we're not thinking. We're just going out and playing. It's probably what we should be doing at home and not worry about it. I don't know why it happens that way. It's really weird."

Lehner spent the first half of the season leading the league in goals-against average and save percentage at home but has since found the same kind of trouble the rest of his team has. On the road, suddenly, Lehner has been staunch.

In his last seven games at home, Lehner is just 1-5-1 with a 3.80 goals-against average. His last four on the road? The numbers are 3-0-1, 1.22 and .963.

Lehner made a pair of key saves on odd-man rushes in the wild, whistle-less overtime session Thursday in Little Caesars Arena.

"It's more open ice at 3-on-3 so you can't be deep in your net on a shooter," Lehner said. "A guy has time to pick a corner. Then you have to be aggressive on him but he gets the puck over and you've got to throw yourself over. We made much smarter decisions in overtime than we have in the past. We held on to the puck more. Smarter decisions give you a better chance."

The Sabres are 0-3-1 in their last four visits here and the Capitals are in desperation mode as they try to cling to the lead in the Metropolitan Division over hard-charging Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Washington is just 4-5-2 in February while the Penguins are 8-1-1 in their last 10 entering Friday and acquired Ottawa center Derek Brassard to bolster their third line. The Flyers are 8-0-2 in their last 10 and have added Detroit goaltender Petr Mrazek.

Things remained status quo for the Sabres at practice Friday, which potential trade subjects Evander Kane and Benoit Pouliot taking regular shifts on their lines while goaltenders Chad Johnson and Lehner put in their normal day. It remains to be seen if any players will be held out of Saturday's game or Sunday visit by Boston, the final game before the deadline.

Lehner said he's just focusing on playing for whatever team wants him, be it the Sabres or someone else. But he wishes things were different for the club in Buffalo.

"There's that hesitation at home. It's cumulative and builds up,adidas Jake Guentzel jersey," Lehner said. "It's a different feeling. The positive is we really want to do it but it feels like every home game now is a must-win game. Hopefully it can turn around. Our fans back home deserve to see some of this winning hockey."

Jason Botterill isn't going to fix the Buffalo Sabres by Monday's trade deadline. The general manager is expected to make significant moves, of course, but there will still be holes everywhere in the organization.

That actually could be a good thing as college free agency approaches.

When NHL unrestricted free agents look for contracts, adidas Matt Murray jersey, they weigh everything from dollar amounts to weather to schools for the kids. College free agents primarily want to play right away.

The struggling Sabres offer that chance.

"The biggest thing for me was just the opportunity that was here," said Sabres center Evan Rodrigues, who signed with Buffalo after completing his Boston University career in the spring of 2015. "I thought there might be a spot that I could come in and take right away."

The mindset was the same for defenseman Casey Nelson, adidas Joe Pavelski jersey, who signed in March 2016 after finishing his junior season at Minnesota State. His adviser compiled depth charts of NHL and minor-league rosters, and they examined which teams offered an immediate opportunity.

" said Nelson,"It came down to a couple, adidas Martin Jones jersey, but there was a perfect fit, who played seven games in Buffalo immediately after signing. "I wouldn't change a thing."

teams are wrapping up their regular season this weekend. Conference tournaments are the opening week of March. The seniors and underclassmen who are ready for the next step will be hearing from the interested teams that have been watching them all season.

"I had a few teams, and it took me about a week just to talk to people, adidas Patrick Marleau jersey," Rodrigues said. "Sometimes it comes down to just a gut feeling, adidas Joe Thornton jersey, lay out the pros and cons, and I weighed out pros and cons, and it looked like Buffalo had the most pros.

"Buffalo just seemed like a spot that was right for me."

Rodrigues played two games for Buffalo during his first professional season and upped that to 30 last year. The 24-year-old is a regular now, skating as the second-line center with Jack Eichel injured.

Nelson's advancement has been just as rapid. After his seven-game debut, the defenseman appeared in 11 games for the Sabres last year. He proved himself during the opening half of this season in Rochester, and the 25-year-old is now performing well with Marco Scandella on Buffalo's shutdown pair.

Though Rochester has a winning record, who signed as a college free agent from UMass-Lowell last spring, defenseman Brendan Guhle and left wing C.J. Chiefs called all 31 other teams in effort to trade Marcus Peters

One of the most confusing parts about the Marcus Peters trade was the low compensation Kansas City received from the Rams in return.

Kansas City only got a 2018 fourth-rounder and 2019 second-rounder — having to throw in a 2018 sixth-rounder of their own to finalize the deal — which is frankly not adequate compensation for a player of Peters’ caliber.

What’s even more baffling is that the Chiefs called all 31 other NFL teams to trade Peters, and 1) only three teams were interested and 2) the Rams’ offer was the best one Kansas City received.

According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, many teams low-balled the Chiefs when they inquired about trading for Peters, and Colts general manager Chris Ballard (former Chiefs director of player personnel/football operations who recruited Peters) was barely even interested.

One team made an offer of a mid-round pick,Womens Cairo Santos Jersey, laughable for a player of Peters’ age and stature. Two were in it until the end—the Rams and 49ers. And the Rams’ offer of second- and fourth-round picks was evidently better than San Francisco’s.

The fact that a GM who knew Peters very well—Indianapolis’ Chris Ballard—did not pursue Peters hard for the Colts this month was viewed as telling by several other teams in the league.

The lack of interest in Peters around the league is puzzling. Sure, but did those issues outweigh the fact that he is on pace to have a Hall of Fame career? Apparently the answer is yes, he had some issues last season,Authentic Jay Cutler Jersey, in the eyes of most NFL teams.

The recent Peters trade rumors seemed illogical, but they turned about to be true. Kansas City agreed in principal to trade the all-pro cornerback to the Los Angeles Rams. The compensation for Peters has yet to be announced.

This is the second trade by the Chiefs this offseason. The first was quarterback Alex Smith being sent to the Washington Redskins for cornerback Kendall Fuller and a 2018 third-round pick.

Regardless of whether the trades were justified, it’s clear that K.C. is more aggressive under the leadership of general manager Brett Veach.

The Los Angeles Rams seem to have gotten a good deal in the trade for cornerback Marcus Peters.

We knew last week that the Rams and Chiefs had agreed to a trade,Womens Cody Parkey Jersey, but didn’t know what the Chiefs were getting in return for the two-time Pro Bowl corner. the Chiefs are getting a 2018 fourth-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick. Adam Schefter said the Rams are also getting a 2018 sixth-round pick along with Peters.

That’s not too much for a cornerback who was an All-Pro in 2016. It’s hard to project how good the Rams will be in 2018, but they seem to be a team on the rise and it’s reasonable to project their pick will be late in the round. A late second a year down the road and a late fourth this season — while getting back a sixth — is a good price for Los Angeles. The trade can’t become official until the start of the league year on March 14.

The Chiefs must not have been working from a position of leverage. Everyone knew the Chiefs were not happy with Peters, though there haven’t been any reports that played into him being traded. But clearly the Chiefs wanted to move on. They took the best deal available for a very good cornerback with two cheap years left on his rookie deal, and it’s not like they got an overwhelming deal for him. The Chiefs seem to have just traded Peters just to be rid of him, who was suspended for a game last season by the team. Peters also was in the news for protesting during the national anthem, and took whatever they could get back.

The Rams have to be thrilled with the deal. It’s possible Peters wears out his welcome in Los Angeles too. But it’s not like the Rams gambled too much to find out.

Former Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters appeared on NFL Network on Monday and spoke for the first time since news of his trade to the Los Angeles Rams broke last Friday.

In the interview, Peters — who was dealt along with a 2018 sixth-round pick for a 2019 second-round pick and a 2018 fourth-rounder — addressed everything from his relationship with Chiefs coach Andy Reid, to how he fits in with the Rams and how he felt about the Chiefs’ trade of Alex Smith.

But first things first; his reaction to the trade, it appeared, wasn’t anger or shock.

“It’s business,” Peters said. “It’s business, and all I can do is just go handle mine. I thank the Kansas City Chiefs for everything they did for me to start it off. Now it’s on to LA.”

Peters then took a moment to praise his teammates, many of whom he grew close to during his time in Kansas City.

“I’m gonna miss playing with my teammates,” Peters said. “That’s the biggest thing about this game … because once get in the locker room, that’s family. I miss the guys, for sure, man. I’ll miss Eric (Berry). I’ll miss Justin (Houston).”

” Peters said. “Man,“I’ll miss coach (Andy) Reid, man. Because I’m sitting here, Big Red. It’s funny, you know? And I’m sitting here and I’m looking at everything like ‘Man, and it’s been a crazy little week, you’re talking about me and Big Red having issues?’ ”

That statement seemed to surprise former NFL fullback Michael Robinson, who was suspended by Reid for a game last December due to his behavior during and after the Chiefs’ 38-31 loss to the Jets on Dec. 3, who was interviewing Peters on set. It caused Robinson to ask one more time if Peters, had any issues with Reid.

“Nope,’ because you know? He was looking in the best interest for me,” Peters said. “Big Red can come check me like my pops can come check me and I’ll take it as ‘Thank you Big Red, to become a better player.”

For the first two years of Peters’ Chiefs tenure, Reid could often be seen calming him down briefly on the sideline, Reid indeed appeared to have a deft touch with Peters. When Peters would grow angry on the field,Authentic Cairo Santos Jersey, a move that often worked.

But throughout the course of the 2017 season, likely due to frustration with the defensive scheme. And yes, the Chiefs did finish with the league’s 28th-ranked defense,Womens Dustin Colquitt Jersey, Peters’ on-field body language grew poorer until the suspension, so he may have had a point.

But on Monday, Peters had nothing but love for the Chiefs,Authentic Cody Parkey Jersey, who gambled on him with the 18th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft despite being suspended midway through his final season at the University of Washington due to repeated clashes with the coaching staff.

“They already knew I had some so-called character issues off the field that happened at U-Dub (Washington),Authentic Earl Thomas III Jersey, it was cool, and sometimes,” Peters said. “We grew for these three years,Womens Matt Haack Jersey, it’s just business. It’s just business.”

Robinson then asked Peters how he’s grown from his tumultuous 2017 season, in which he remained the Chiefs’ best cornerback by far but failed to make All-Pro for the first time in his career and drew criticism for a myriad of incidents, ranging from his refusal to stand for the national anthem to his sometimes-explicit postgame interviews and his on-field blowups — like chucking a penalty flag into the stands during the tail end of the Jets loss and walking off the field.

“I put it on my own shoulders, I don’t blame nobody for nothing I do. Once I threw that flag in the stands,” Peters said. “You know, I knew what was gonna happen. I shouldn’t have walked off.”

however,Peters, including quarterback Jared Goff, seemed to be excited about a fresh start with Rams. He mentioned several of his future teammates, and seemed genuinely excited to play with the Rams’ defense, running back Todd Gurley and receivers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, which finished 12th in the NFL in scoring defense and is guided by coordinator Wade Phillips.

“We’re gonna win games,” Peters said. “When you’ve got a running back like I do, all you can do is just keep making plays. Give the ball back to Todd so he can do his thing, give the ball back to Jared so he could do his thing. You’ve got Woods, when you’ve got a front seven like I do now, Kupp.”

When Robinson laughed as he noted that Peters knew all about his new squad, Peters smiled wide.

“I play Madden baby,Womens Eric Fisher Jersey,” Peters said. “My Madden team is looking real nice right now.”

That necessarily wasn’t a swipe at his former Chiefs teammates, Authentic Dustin Colquitt Jersey, however. When asked whether he agreed with the trade of former starter Alex Smith to Washington — which will be consummated at the start of the new league year on March 14 — Peters said he didn’t.

“No man, because I done seen that man get thrown underneath the bus too many times,Womens Jay Cutler Jersey,” Peters said. “Alex doesn’t get enough respect. They better start putting some respect on that man’s name, and he took it as a man and he never complained about it. He doesn’t turn over the ball and he knows how to win.”

What’s more, which blew an 18-point halftime time in a Wild Card loss to the Titans in January, Peters said the defense,Authentic Matt Haack Jersey, deserves the blame for that.

Lost in the midst of the Marcus Peters trade news was a report on the Chiefs’ salary cap.

The Kansas City Star’s Terez Paylor noted that the Chiefs are rolling over about $2.6 million in cap space to 2018. Salary cap rollover happens when a team doesn’t spend all of its money allotted for the previous season.

hence soft rebuild in '18, the eighth-lowest amount in football,Just FYI: Chiefs are rolling over approximately $2.6M to the 2018 salary cap,Womens Cody Parkey Jersey, I'm told. Chiefs also spent the second-lowest amount in cash on player salaries this year but had cap issues. Time to pay the paper

S Eric Berry,Even with that, thanks to some big contracts owed to players like LB Justin Houston,Authentic Earl Thomas III Jersey, the Chiefs won’t be that much under the cap in 2018. Around $20 million or so, left tackle Eric Fisher and more.

The Chiefs are reportedly parting ways with one of their best players, with news that they would trade cornerback Marcus Peters to the Rams once the new league year begins March 14.

And while it's surprising that a team would be willing to ship one of the NFL's top cornerbacks out of town, even more shocking were the terms of the deal: Los Angeles reportedly will get Peters and a 2018 sixth-round pick while Kansas City receives a 2018 fourth-rounder and a 2019 second-rounder.

looking for a trade partner,So why would such an impact player at one of the most important positions on the field get traded for a second- and fourth-round pick?  Peter King sheds some light on the issue: "I'm told the Chiefs called all 31 other teams in the league this month on Peters, and 28 teams either said they were not interested or did not make an offer of any value."

One team -- King speculates that it was either the Browns or Colts -- made an offer of a mid-round pick (for a top-tier cornerback!) and two others -- the Rams and 49ers -- were the last two standing before Los Angeles' offer won out.

And while there's no denying Peters' talents -- and that he takes football very seriously -- the Chiefs apparently soured on everything else.

The team suspended him for a game in December after a bizarre episode that included Peters chucking an official's penalty flag into the stands and then leaving the field after wrongly thinking he was ejected. When he returned to the sidelines, he wasn't in full uniform. There were also reports that he got into shouting matches with assistant coaches and angered team chairman Clark Hunt by refusing to stand for the national anthem. That the Chiefs traded for Kendall Fuller and signed David Amerson makes Peters' departure a little easier to stomach even though the defense was among the league's worst a season ago.

The Rams, who wouldn't speak in particulars about Peters during a recent conversation so as not to violate the league's rules on tampering, might bring with him. For starters, a California native, meanwhile, are unconcerned about any baggage Peters, he's in the final year of a rookie deal that will pay him just $1.7 million. And second-year coach Sean McVay, did talk more generally about the culture he and his staff created in Los Angeles last year when the Rams improved to 11-5 after 4-12 in 2016.

"If we're going to ask our players to be coachable, where they know it's about developing and building relationships," McVay said,"These are grown men, and it starts with the mutual respect that exists,Authentic Cairo Santos Jersey, we've got to be coachable as coaches as well. That displays an ownership and an accountability that we try to all have and makes the players more receptive to the messages we try to implement. ...

what our standards are,[The players] know exactly what the expectations are, and they know what it is to do it the right way."

look like a much better team in 2018 than the Chiefs,Authentic Dustin Colquitt Jersey,Put another way: On paper, who already had one of the NFL's best defenses and returns a potent offense,Authentic Jay Cutler Jersey, the Rams, who have moved on from Alex Smith and Marcus Peters in a matter of weeks.

there's a long list of topics Reid and Veach could talk about when they meet with reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine this week. They might not speak for long enough to get to everything there is to discuss, since the last time we heard anything from head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach. As a matter of fact,Authentic Cody Parkey Jersey, it's possible no team in the NFL has generated more headlines than the Chiefs since the end of the Super Bowl. As such,The Kansas City Chiefs have been busy, to say the least,Womens Matt Haack Jersey, but here are five subjects in particular we'd like to hear them address when they talk with reporters tomorrow and Thursday.

but how many new details actually get revealed due to each one not yet being official remains to be seen.  , but it'll still be worthwhile to hear their answer. CBS Sports reporter Jason La Canfora reportedly said Tuesday he heard the decision to trade Peters came as a "mandate from the top,We're guessing this question will be asked and answered with a denial or deflection by Reid and/or Veach," which rubbed some Chiefs fans the wrong way. The Peters trade (and the Alex Smith trade) will surely be brought up

The Chiefs have moved on from Alex Smith, remains on the roster. The expectation is still that the two sides will part ways in some capacity, and per the Kansas City Star are expected to do the same with Ron Parker. But Hali, Marcus Peters, Darrelle Revis, Derrick Johnson, the one player who more than any other the Chiefs were widely expected to move on from this offseason, but it would be interesting to hear what Veach or Reid have to say on the issue.

but it's significant considering it would open up more cap space for the team to work with. Not sure how much Veach or Reid would be willing to say on that subject,La Canfora, reported earlier this month Justin Houston was a candidate to have his contract restructured this offseason. There hasn't been any other news on that to pop up, a name Chiefs fans have been hearing a lot of lately, but maybe a confirmation or denial could be given.

while Albert Wilson told  NFL radio he wasn't sure about the Chiefs' level of interest in getting a new deal done. For those two players as well as defensive tackle Bennie Logan and linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis,Again, but lost in the shuffle of all these comings and goings is the fact the Chiefs haven't signed any of their pending free agents to contract extensions. Punter Dustin Colquitt said on 610 Sports Radio Kansas City earlier this month the team has expressed interest in bringing him back,Womens Eric Fisher Jersey, there probably aren't many specifics that would be offered here, it would be nice to get at least a "We're interested in bringing them back" type of response from the Chiefs to at least get an idea of where things stand.

it would be good to hear the Chiefs say so for sure. , an accusation that was countered by Hunt's friends. This story has kind of fallen off the radar,Womens Cairo Santos Jersey,Hunt was accused earlier this month by a young woman to have caused her injury after he pushed her during an altercation in his Cleveland apartment building, which might be where it stays because of the he said-she said nature of the accusations and possibility there just might not be much to it. If there's nothing to be concerned about

Outgoing Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters spoke for the first time since news of his trade to the Los Angeles Rams trickled out.

In an interview with the NFL Network,Womens Dustin Colquitt Jersey, Peters gave his thoughts on the two big offseason moves the Chiefs have made - his trade and the decision to trade quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins.

“It’s business and all I can do is handle mine,” Peters about his trade. “I thank the Kansas City Chiefs for everything they did for me to start it off. Now I’m going to LA."

During the interview, Womens Jay Cutler Jersey,Peters said he had no problems with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

"Big Red can come check me like my pops can,Authentic Matt Haack Jersey," Peters said.

Peters added that he thought the Chiefs were making a mistake in regards to moving on from Smith.

From Tyrod Taylor to Mike Glennon, a roundup of QB news at NFL combine

A roundup of quarterback moves and chatter from the NFL scouting combine:

on Tyrod Taylor: “When you look at our quarterback position, those are two good quarterbacks. Tyrod now can add to his resume that he was instrumental in getting us to the playoffs and breaking what was a 17-year drought. You’ve heard me say it before,Womens Brandon McManus Jersey, Tyrod and Nate,Sean McDermott, Bills head coach, his work ethic and intangibles are unmatched, and his leadership that goes along with the position. We’re still going through that process. We’re in a good position with some options out there. So that will work itself out.

whether it’s Tyrod or any of our players, Tyrod’s a good player. At this point in the process I’ve learned being around this league around 20 years that it’s way too early to take anything off the table. Other than cutting him at this point, which is not in our plans. He’s a good football player who has been instrumental in getting us to the playoffs. At this point in the process, you look at what’s out there,“As I’ve said before, you look at your options and you make decisions based on the best interests of your football team.”

on Taylor: “Tyrod’s on our roster right now. That’s the plan. We’re just taking it day by day. Like every position, including quarterback. But Tyrod did a lot of good things for us, we’re trying to get better everywhere. We’re looking at every position,Brandon Beane, Bills’ GM, so I’m not really worried about the bonus. I see him on the roster right now. Unless something changes, he’ll be here through that part.”

led our football team, Vikings’ GM, on Case Keenum: “I would say that if we didn’t believe in Case Keenum and what he was able to accomplish – I’ll keep those personnel discussions internally – but Case Keenum came in, did a phenomenal job. He has a knack for making plays. He made a lot of big plays for us because of not only his smarts, so Case,Rick Spielman, but his mobility as well. I know we’ve had internal discussions with how he fits with some of the things Coach DeFilippo wants to do, his leadership, we were very excited about what Case was able to accomplish and Coach Zim, he can address that. But he does a very good job of handling our players and keeping them all on edge so that they perform at their highest level.”

on Nick Foles: “We’re trying to keep as many good players as possible. You’re talking about the Super Bowl MVP. He’s been unbelievably successful for us. He’s got great character, Eagles’ VP of Football Operations,Howie Roseman, great leadership. That room is exactly what we’re looking for. We have a franchise quarterback. We have the Super Bowl MVP. And we have a young quarterback (Nate Sudfeld) as well.

we have a lot of areas that we have to address. We’re getting started a little bit later than most teams. And we know in this league if we don’t get to work and get serious about this,“As we get started with the offseason, we’re going to get butt kicked.”

on Aaron Rodgers’ contract: “I don’t know if there’s pressure, it’s not going to be inexpensive, I think we certainly would like to get it done sooner rather than later — not necessarily for those reasons. But when you have the best player in the National Football League,Brian Gutekunst, Packers’ GM, you know what I mean? Obviously Aaron is a high priority,Authentic Max Garcia Jersey, he’s a great player and I think that should take care of itself at some point.

teams should get on the horn for a cheap, and though they won't net more than a late-round draft pick in return,The Denver Broncos reportedly have made Siemian available for trade, two-year starter.

This is the early front-runner due to their need at the position and presence of Greg Knapp,Authentic Todd Davis Jersey, the Broncos' former QBs coach who took the same job in Atlanta.

The Falcons have only 36-year-old Matt Schaub behind franchise QB Matt Ryan. Schaub is due $2.75 million in base salary next season, with a salary cap hit of $5.5M. The team would clear $3.25M.

throwing for 3,Womens Bennie Fowler Jersey, the Jets recently hired former Broncos offensive coordinator Rick Dennison as their offensive line coach and running game coordinator. Siemian had unforeseen success under Dennison in 2016,Speaking of coaching connections,400 yards and earning a berth as a Pro Bowl alternate.

however,Authentic Bennie Fowler Jersey,Gang Green is expected to pursue Kirk Cousins in free agency while allowing 2017 starter Josh McCown to shop his wares. If they strike out on Cousins, they could do worse than bringing aboard Siemian for veteran insurance and drafting a signal-caller with their sixth overall pick.

The Cards are entering a quasi-rebuild with Bruce Arians and Carson Palmer riding off into the sunset. The team is now led by first-time head man Steve Wilks, a defensive mind who will defer offensive responsibility to new coordinator Mike McCoy. Sound familiar?

Arizona may opt to bring in a vet and groom a rookie under center. They've been loosely connected to impending Broncos free-agent Brock Osweiler,Like the Jets,Authentic Darian Stewart Jersey, whom McCoy has coached on two separate occasions.

it's time to throw their likely first-round QB into the fire. Siemian isn't the future of any franchise, if he stays put in the Big Apple, has another year of starting ability in him. After that,Eli Manning, but he's surely an upgrade on the likes of Davis Webb and Geno Smith.

amid a massive regime change,Perhaps the Giants, would be interested in the rare player-for-player trade in lieu of draft capital.

who'd slide right in as Dalton's direct backup. The team will lose AJ McCarron to free agency, the Bengals may come-a-callin' for Siemian,With only Jeff Driskel under contract behind Andy Dalton, leaving a gaping void on the depth chart.

” Patricia said. “I have obviously a lot of love for New England, as far as the Patriots are concerned — and this is really how I feel about it — I’m going to be extremely respectful to Coach Belichick and his organization and I’m going to let him answer any questions that have to do with the Patriots,“To be honest with you, but I have a new team.”

and New England is likely to allow him to leave as a free agent. The New York Jets, the hero of the Patriots’ Super Bowl XLIX victory three years ago, did not play a defensive snap in this year’s loss to the Eagles, according to early buzz out of the combine,Butler, are interested in Butler. Patricia had nothing negative to say about the defensive back.

” Patricia said. “I love Malcolm a lot. Like all my players,Womens Riley Dixon Jersey,“I would characterize my relationship with Malcolm as extremely strong, he’s like one of my sons. I want to make sure that he does everything to the best and I hope the best for him. That’s really all I’m going to say about Malcolm.”

Siemian would be a preferred option for notoriously frugal Bengals owner Mike Brown.

if you will. It's extremely uncommon for division rivals to do business together,This is an honorable mention for Siemian -- a darkhorse, and the last thing the Broncos want is for Siemian to thrive under Jon Gruden.

hasn't cut it. Should the Raiders absolutely blow away John Elway with an offer -- a fourth-rounder, a free agent,But Oakland is seeking a No. 2 to Derek Carr and EJ Manuel, let's say -- the trigger might be pulled.

The Washington Redskins have all but ruled out the possibility of placing the franchise tag on veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins for a third time, Senior Vice President of Player Personnel Doug Williams told reporters Tuesday afternoon at the NFL Scouting Combine.

” Williams said,“He’s a free agent for sure, adding that he “doesn’t think” the organization will opt to tag Cousins and pay him a guaranteed $34.5 million in 2018.

The Redskins technically have until next Tuesday’s deadline to designate Cousins for the tag, thereby keeping the quarterback from hitting free agency in a few weeks.

The Indianapolis Colts have informed running back Frank Gore that they don’t intend to re-sign him, Coach Frank Reich and General Manager Chris Ballard said. Ballard delivered that news to Gore after the season.

” Reich said Wednesday. “And out of respect to Frank so he could know exactly what was going on,Womens Jamaal Charles Jersey,Womens Todd Davis Jersey,“I am aware that Chris and Frank did have a discussion once the season was over, Chris was right up front and said that probably we’re moving on to make the roster a little bit younger at that position.”

who turns 35 in May,Gore, Womens Max Garcia Jersey,is eligible for free agency after spending the past three seasons with the Colts. He is the fifth-leading rusher in NFL history.

Matt Patricia may be out from under the thumb of New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick,Authentic Riley Dixon Jersey, but that doesn’t mean he’s suddenly going to become bubbly and talkative.

other than to say he put the “players and game plan out there that we thought would be the best, Patricia was asked about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the Super Bowl benching of cornerback Malcolm Butler, when Patricia was still the Patriots’ defensive coordinator. Belichick has still not cleared up the reasons for the surprise benching, like we always do.” Naturally,Authentic Brandon McManus Jersey,Now the coach of the Detroit Lions, Patricia was asked about the incident by reporters as the NFL combine began.

Chad Kelly finally in Broncos QB mix,Emerging from dormancy

he would rupture tendons in his throwing wrist.,The NFL had rescinded his combine invitation because of a new misbehavior policy — since terminated — that punished Kelly less than the teams that had questions of him. He was three months removed from reconstructive knee surgery. At his Ole Miss pro day in April

" Kelly said Tuesday night. "It was a sad time.","It freaking crushes your dreams

The Denver Broncos ended Kelly's draft free fall, 253rd overall., catching him with the final selection

The top quarterback over the 2015 to 2016 seasons would be a long-range project, shelved for the entire season while he healed and learned the NFL from behind the Broncos curtain., no chance to compete for playing time

"Getting drafted by a great organization picked me up," Kelly said Tuesday from Colorado, "but going through the year and not being able to help on the field, 'Man, but I felt, I don't want to say you doubt yourself, I just want to go out there and do something about this!'

"But you've got to be patient. It was a year that tested my patience really hard, it lights a fire in your stomach. I wake up every day and just want to be the best there is.", but seeing an NFL season like I have

Kelly has been throwing without issues. His uncle, Buffalo Bills icon Jim Kelly, New York Giants legend Phil Simms., posted an Instagram video of Chad throwing last week in New Jersey. Chad was working with former NFL quarterback Chris Simms and his father

This week in Indianapolis, will be among the most interested in passers such as Josh Rosen, clubs will evaluate the next infusion of prospects. The Broncos, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield., uncertain at quarterback and plotting how to use the fifth overall draft pick, Sam Darnold

Kelly is ahead of them when it comes to pro experience, traveling to all Denver's road games despite being inactive, learning what it means to be a full-time football player., absorbing a playbook, breaking down film with veteran coaches and QBs

he isn't really in the NFL.,But by Kelly's personal definition

"It hasn't hit me yet, "and I don't think it'll hit me until I step on that field for the first time and play an actual game.,Womens Jamaal Charles Jersey," the St. Joe's grad said

"Being in that locker room and seeing those guys put on that jersey and come together and get hyped up and ready to go play another NFL team was really neat, my teammates I'm going into battle with every day.", and I can't wait to have that feeling and contribute with my best friends

Kelly would seem a safe bet to remain with Denver if he stays healthy and doesn't give skeptics reason to recall his silly missteps at Clemson or while visiting Western New York.

he's an inexpensive lottery ticket for president of football operations/general manager John Elway.,As a seventh-round draft choice

" Kelly said. "You've got to be thankful for your opportunity.,Womens Max Garcia Jersey,"There's only 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL

but the opportunity to scan your ID card in the parking lot and walk into work and see great players and great people and guys that want to do that every single day with you is what it's all about.","You can dwell on being hurt

the Broncos went 14-18 and ranked in the bottom half of the league in points and yards.,The other quarterbacks on Denver's roster have been unremarkable. In the two years since Peyton Manning won the Super Bowl and retired

hiring offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan. Elway's old backup and veteran NFL head coach Gary Kubiak remains on staff as an advisor.,Second-year coach Vance Joseph overhauled his staff after last season

but underwent left shoulder surgery for the second straight offseason.,Authentic Riley Dixon Jersey,Trevor Siemian has one year left on his rookie contract. He has won the starting job out of training camp the past two years

The Broncos traded first- and third-round draft choices to move up four slots and take Paxton Lynch 26th overall two years ago. Lynch has started four games.

At a combine news conference Wednesday, Siemian and Lynch all are in the derby., Joseph didn't elaborate on Denver's quarterback plans aside from saying Kelly

"You can't control the outside stuff, wanting to get better," Kelly said of the Broncos depth chart. "You just come to work every day,Womens Bennie Fowler Jersey, the classroom or out in the field., wanting to learn, whether it's in the weight room

"You've got to just focus on what you can control and how you can make yourself better that day."

The real question is whether and to what extent parameters of a contract for Brees will be discussed by agent Tom Condon and other teams. Yes, it’s impossible to properly evaluate the quality of the offer made by Drew’s current team without knowing how he is valued by other teams., Brees has said on multiple occasions that he plans to stay with the Saints. Even if he’s not testing the Saints in order to see whether they use his words as a way to lowball him

There’s a dollar threshold below which an offer from the Saints to Brees will be regarded by the player as an insult. That threshold can’t properly be determined without knowing the ceiling that other teams would offer.

What if,Authentic Darian Stewart Jersey, say, for example, the Vikings decide to reprise the Brett Favre experiment, breaking open the vault in an effort to go all in for the pursuit of a Super Bowl with Brees on board? If they’d offer, $23 million per year on a two-year deal would look much different than $23 million per year would seem to be in isolation., $30 million per year on a two-year deal, a Saints offer of, say

Whether it’s the Vikings, the Broncos, what’s lurking behind Door No. 2, or anyone else, the Cardinals, the Jets, the Browns, No. 4, Condon will need to be able to put New Orleans’ offer in context., No. 3, No. 5, No. 6, or beyond will go a long way toward assessing what the Saints place behind Door No. 1. Before Condon gives Brees a recommendation on what to do about the offer from the Saints

Case Keenum is one of five Vikings quarterbacks to win 12 games in one season. Maybe the team will honor him if he ever returns to U.S. Bank Stadium.

but we can again be assured that they are making the most interesting possible decisions regarding their quarterbacks. The only thing missing from this drama is a flight to Hattiesburg.,We may not know for years whether the Minnesota Vikings are making the right decisions regarding their quarterbacks

meaning he can test free agency.,The Vikings reportedly will not attach the franchise tag to Keenum

meaning he can test free agency.,They reportedly will not attempt to “toll” the contract of Teddy Bridgewater

Kirk Cousins.,These developments suggest a likely recruitment of the most prolific quarterback available in free agency

Once again, ensuring he would retain the services of a popular starting quarterback for the 2018 season., Vikings general manager Rick Spielman is taking a risk. The safest route available to him was placing the franchise tag on Keenum

Instead, Spielman appears to be gambling that he can either improve on Keenum, approximately $24 million contract he would get under the terms of a franchise tag., or bring back Keenum on a deal that would benefit the Vikings more than the one-year

Percy Harvin, Griffen is a star and Cook might have become the rookie of the year had he remained healthy last season.,Authentic Max Garcia Jersey, Everson Griffen and Dalvin Cook were considered character risks coming out of college. Harvin performed well before bringing value in a trade

Spielman has learned that “safe” can be a synonym for “bland.”,Womens Todd Davis Jersey,And when it comes to quarterbacks

intelligent and likeable and played for an excellent program. None of that mattered. He couldn’t keep his job.,Christian Ponder was a safe pick. He was athletic

trading for Sam Bradford just before the start of the 2016 season.,Remember what Spielman did about 18 months ago. He made a move nobody expected

And if Spielman’s offensive line had held up that season,Authentic Todd Davis Jersey, Bradford would be the Vikings’ quarterback of the present and future.,Authentic Bennie Fowler Jersey, or Bradford’s knee had held up in 2017

Spielman is aggressive in a specific manner. He wants to win a Super Bowl. Womens Riley Dixon Jersey,He is not willing to settle for an inspirational season, and a ticket to the Championship Game., a great playoff moment

Cousins has started one playoff game,Authentic Brandon McManus Jersey, one touchdown and no interceptions in a loss to Green Bay., throwing for 329 yards

Keenum has started two playoff games. He averted a collapse to which he was contributing against the Saints when Marcus Williams decided not to tackle Stefon Diggs. Then he went ahead and executed a full collapse, against the Eagles., along with his teammates

assuming he doesn’t hate himself enough to sign with the Cleveland Browns.,Womens Brandon McManus Jersey,Cousins has three desirable options in free agency

He can sign with the Denver Broncos, and hope that their defense, can perform at a championship level again. Which is unlikely. The Broncos finished 5-11 last year., without Wade Phillips

Trevor Siemian on Kirk Cousins rumors: 'It’s understandable'

nor his teammates advocating for some guy named Kirk Cousins.,Trevor Siemian isn't sweating the Broncos' pursuit of a franchise quarterback

The tape, more than anything else, and Siemian's -- by his own admission -- wasn't good enough., dictates results in this business

“It’s understandable,’’ Siemian said of the swirling QB rumors, you’re judged on wins and losses. I get it. It’s part of the deal., via Mike Klis of 9News. “We won five games last year. In this league playing quarterback

“I just wish I would have done some things differently. It would have been nice to play a little better and get us a few more wins. But I’ll look back and I’ll learn from it and be better for it.’’

After two up-and-mostly-down seasons as Denver's starter, Siemian finds himself with one foot out of the Dove Valley door. The team is expected to make him available for trade leading up to the March 14 start of free agency,Authentic Brandon Marshall Jersey, and general manager John Elway has scheduled a meeting with Siemian's agent, at this week's Scouting Combine.,Authentic Virgil Green Jersey, Mike McCartney, who also represents Cousins

Being that his ceiling is that of a quality backup, the final year of his rookie contract -- should attract at least a few NFL suitors and a late-round draft pick in return. But he's not yet thinking that far down the line., Siemian -- signed for $1.918 million through 2018

’’ he told Klis. “It is what it is. It’s a business. We’ll see what happens.’’,Authentic Cameron Heyward Jersey,“I don’t have any comment for you

and many believe that the Broncos are the team he is most interested in joining if they can pay him the kind of contract he’s looking for.,Kirk Cousins has been the name that most Denver Broncos fans have been focusing on heading into the NFL offseason. He is the best quarterback available in free agency

While that may be the case, there is another free agent quarterback that could be the Broncos’ “Plan B.”,Authentic Ryan Shazier Jersey, there is no guarantee that Cousins and the Broncos will be able to come together on a deal. If they can’t agree to terms

the Broncos could target Case Keenum if Cousins doesn’t end up signing with them.,According to a report from Denver radio host Benjamin Allbright

That report is coming on the heels of a report that the Minnesota Vikings will not franchise tag Keenum. Ian Rapoport originally reported on the Vikings’ decision to not tag Keenum.

Keenum would be an intriguing pickup for the Broncos after the big season he had for the Vikings.,Needless to say

Keenum ended the 2017 season completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 3,Authentic Joe Haden Jersey,547 yards, 22 touchdowns, the Eagles went on to stun Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl., and seven interceptions. He led the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game, where their magical season came to an end at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. As we all know

When the Broncos pursued Peyton Manning in free agency, the Broncos will be more versatile. , they pushed their chips to the center of the table. It was Manning or nothing. They hit the jackpot. Six years later

the belle of the free agent ball. They can say with a straight face they possess a strong chance of signing him. But Monday the likelihood of pulling it off decreased slightly with the NFL Network report that Minnesota will not place the franchise tag on Case Keenum. It leaves the Vikings poised and capable of wooing Cousins with a compelling argument that he can lead them to the Super Bowl in his first season. ,They would love to land Kirk Cousins

one of their most forgettable in 50 years. The Jets cannot say that given their lack of playoff success since Joe Namath exited the building. ,The Broncos cannot say that after a 5-11 campaign

The Vikings will have money and a need, something I have been writing about for weeks., ramping up speculation they will aggressively chase Cousins

The Broncos do have a Plan B. From everything I have been told by sources, dependable and brings an identity that would be welcomed by an offense that has all the personality of khaki Dockers. Still, they like Cousins. He is durable, then not surround him with good players. , losing 11. And he will throw the occasional interception. He is good, they crunch the numbers. They know Cousins has fumbled 31 times over the last three seasons, but if the price tag reaches $30 million per season it's hard to see the Broncos rationalizing that figure given their multiple roster needs. It makes no sense to pay Cousins

Denver would have wiggle room to address deficiencies. ,If the figure is closer to $25 million

including the draft.,The Broncos will not travel to Indianapolis in the Family Truckster with a "Cousins or Bust!" placard in the rearview window. They will have viable alternatives

The second tier of free agent quarterbacks brings a lower price tag and greater risk. Denver will have interest in Keenum. But where is the line in the sand? He was 9-15 as a starter prior to his magical performance in Minnesota in 2017. Is he the NFL's "Macarena" --  a one-year wonder?

Keenum figures to receive at least $20 million per season, and that should help in any evaluation. , if not $23 to $24 million. Think of the Brock Osweiler contract. No way Keenum receives less than Osweiler. It would be a prudent deal if Keenum's performance could be trusted. Broncos advisor Gary Kubiak knows Keenum well

completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 22 touchdowns and seven picks. Cousins,Keenum went 11-3 during the regular season, who has not missed a start in three seasons, connecting on 69.8 percent of his passes for 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Keenum was sacked 22 times compared to 26 for Cousins. , posted a 9-7 record

Keenum delivered. But can he duplicate it with a new offensive coordinator and fewer weapons? It's a fair concern.,Womens Darian Stewart Jersey,By any measure

If not Keenum, going 2-1. To sign him would likely mean drafting a quarterback in the second or third round. , A.J. McCarron's name will surface. The risk increases given his lack of resume. He has made three career starts

my Twitter village brings valuable Broncos' insights. And the question emerged quickly with the Keenum news: Would the Broncos be better off drafting their franchise quarterback with the fifth overall pick? ,Womens Brandon Marshall Jersey,Twitter can serve as an echo chamber. However

This, makes sense. However, too,Womens Virgil Green Jersey, the team's posture this offseason shows no signs of the type of patience required for starting a rookie. At the NFL combine this week, if not Keenum. , Sam Darnold,Womens Cameron Heyward Jersey, the Broncos will receive a better look and additional interviews with prospects Josh Rosen, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield. They also figure to get a handle on what it will take to sign Cousins

We're less than two months into the NFL offseason and things have already gotten kind of awkward for Trevor Siemian.

After starting 24 games for the Broncos over the past two seasons, but his own teammates have been trying to recruit guys like Kirk Cousins to take his place. ,Womens Ryan Shazier Jersey, the team has basically been shooing him out the door over the past six weeks. Not only are the Broncos reportedly trying to trade him

and did we mention that John Elway said his main goal this offseason was to upgrade the quarterback position? Because that also happened. ,Authentic Anthony Chickillo Jersey,Oh

Basically, and the crazy thing is that he's apparently OK with that. , it seems like no one in Denver really wants to see Siemian return as the starter in 2018

Siemian said he has no problem with the fact that Broncos players have been actively recruiting Cousins or that everyone keeps mentioning that the team needs to upgrade at quarterback. ,Womens Joe Haden Jersey,During a recent interview in Denver

"It's understandable, you're judged on wins and losses. I get it. It's part of the deal.",'' Siemian said. "We won five games last year. In this league playing quarterback

The Broncos went 5-11 last season, Siemian said the only thing he can do now is get better for the future. , but it wasn't exactly his fault. Siemian went 5-5 in 10 starts while Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler combined to go winless in their six starts. With the 2017 season behind him

" Siemian said. "It would have been nice to play a little better and get us a few more wins. But I'll look back and I'll learn from it and be better for it.","I just wish I would have done some things differently

and even if the Broncos sign someone like Cousins,The 26-year-old quarterback has gone 13-11 over the past two seasons, there's a chance that Siemian could return to Denver. The 2015 seventh-round pick still has one year left on his rookie deal, he would be a very affordable backup quarterback. , and at a $1.9 base salary for 2018

Osweiler didn't really want to have a conversation about it.  ,Although Siemian seemed to be understanding of the fact that his teammates want a new quarterback

"Players, coaches, teammates, but you can speak it.", everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion," Osweiler said. "The beautiful thing about being able to live in this country is not only are you entitled to your opinion

After making $16 million in 2017 -- with $15.25 million of the coming from the Browns and just $775, so it wouldn't be completely surprising if they decide to bring back either Siemian or Osweiler next season.,000 coming from the Broncos -- Osweiler is set to be a free agent on March 14 and will be allowed to sign with anyone. The Broncos are going to need a backup quarterback in 2018

NHL trade news: Grading every deal made on 2018 trade deadline day

The NHL's trade deadline is the sports mecca for rumor mongering. For weeks leading up to the most frenetic day in hockey, speculation consumes us. Much of it is farfetched,Womens Marcus Gilbert Jersey, even flat-out nuts, but it's tradition nonetheless. We can't get enough.

This year's deadline feels different than years past, though. For the first time in recent memory,Authentic Fletcher Cox Jersey, there's a very good chance a bona fide superstar changes teams .

Erik Karlsson's situation in Ottawa has deteriorated to a point of no return. Nine months ago, Eugene Melnyk ), as he willed the Senators within one win of the Stanley Cup Final,Womens Torrey Smith Jersey, it was unfathomable to imagine Karlsson, arguably the world's best player not named Crosby or McDavid, playing anywhere else the rest of his career. But due to a cavalcade of organizational missteps ( way to go, it's no longer a pipe dream. The hockey world will watch and wait to see if it actually happens.

Ryan McDonagh and more are still in play.,While Karlsson's name is the one on everyone's lips, there ought to be plenty more trades to go around. A handsome return for Rick Nash on Sunday by the Rangers set the market for teams looking to add a top-six forward, rental players and those with term alike. Evander Kane, Mike Hoffman

The nature of the restructuring required is a complete mystery. This is because the full details of the deal itself never came to light.

Here’s what we do know so far. The Pittsburgh Penguins were set to give up netminding prospect Filip Gustavsson, defenseman Ian Cole and a first round pick. In return, they were going to receive Ottawa Senators center Derick Brassard, giving them enviable depth down the middle alongside Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

believed to be the Golden Knights.,The complications start with the introduction of a third team

It is rumoredthat the trade would involve sending Brassard to Las Vegas first. It appears that the idea behind this would be to allow both Vegas and Ottawa to retain salary on and massively reduce Derick Brassard’s cap hit.

tied with fellow Russian Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals for the league lead.,Malkin has an amazing 20 goals and 37 points since Jan. 1. He has 34 goals this season

“I do believe there’s a competition (among them),” Penguins assistant coach Sergei Gonchar told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s an honor to be the top goal-scorer in the league. But if it (were) an American or Canadian (they were competing against), they’re going to compete just as hard.”

Malkin, who continued his roll with one goal and two assists in Friday’s 6-1 Penguins win over the Carolina Hurricanes, will try to add to his total on Saturday night when the Penguins visit the Florida Panthers.

winning their sixth straight on Friday while also acquiring,The Penguins continued their roll as well

forward Derick Brassard in a three-team trade with the Ottawa Senators and Vegas Golden Knights. The Penguins also received a 2018 third-round draft pick and prospect forward Vincent Dunn from the Senators; and the Pens also received prospect forward Tobias Lindberg from the Golden Knights.

Pittsburgh traded defenseman Ian Cole, goalie Filip Gustavsson, a 2018 first-round draft pick and a 2019 third-round selection to the Senators, and forward Ryan Reaves and a 2018 fourth-round draft pick originally acquired from Vancouver to the Golden Knights.

Brassard has averaged 19 goals and 48 points over the past five seasons (including this one factored in). Three years ago, he had a career-best 27 goals with the New York Rangers, so his addition strengthens the Penguins down the middle.

The Panthers are coming off an incredibly emotional game as they rallied with two goals in the final four minutes to defeat the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Thursday night.

and that stood as the game-winner.,Vincent Trocheck scored a power-play goal with 18.7 seconds left

too.,But there was major drama before the game

Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo fought back tears as he spoke to the BB&T Center crowd just a couple of minutes before the start of the game.

who have loudly pushed for change after yet another school shooting.,This was the Panthers’ first home game since last week’s deadly shooting at nearby Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. Luongo,Authentic Ramon Foster Jersey, a resident of Parkland, spoke to the crowd about his admiration for the students

” Luongo told the crowd. “You guys are brave. You guys are an inspiration to all of us. You guys are what is giving us hope for the future.”,“I’ve been watching the news. I’ve been seeing what the kids from Douglas have been doing

and the Panthers — winners of eight of their past 11 games — have thrust themselves into the playoff race.,Things should be a bit more normalized on Saturday

The Panthers are led by Trocheck,Authentic Marcus Gilbert Jersey, with a team-best 23 goals, and Aleksander Barkov, with a team-high 55 points. Both have made the All-Star Game — Trocheck in 2017 and Barkov in 2018.

who leads the team with 36 assists.,Womens Vince Williams Jersey,Another Panthers star is Jonathan Huberdeau

The Penguins, two-time Stanley Cup MVP, meanwhile,Authentic Torrey Smith Jersey, have Malkin and the incomparable Sidney Crosby, a seven-time All-Star, two-time regular season MVP, two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time Stanley Cup champ.

Then again,Womens Timmy Jernigan Jersey, nobody has been hotter lately than Malkin, who has 11 goals and 18 points in his past seven home games.

“When he’s feeling it like this, you can’t take the puck off of him,” Crosby told the Post-Gazette. “He’s taking the puck from end to end. He’s taking it to the net. He’s shooting. He’s good in every area.

“You can tell he has that extra step. He has that right now.”

Usually, blockbuster NHL trades are fun. But every now and then, a Stanley Cup-hungry team confined to its salary cap attempts an "improper use of salary retention mechanism" and the whole thing devolves into a complicated, un-fun cluster of confusion.

a three-team trade including the Golden Knights finally gained league approval.,That was the case Friday when the Penguins pulled off a trade for Senators center Derick Brassard , one of the more coveted forwards available at this year's NHL trade deadline. If only things were so simple. News of an agreement between Pittsburgh and Ottawa initially broke in the afternoon. Seven hours, six players, four draft picks and one NHL veto later

If you're wondering, "What do the Golden Knights have to do with this?Womens Ramon Foster Jersey," well, that's a good question. Vegas acquired Ryan Reaves and a 2018 fourth-round draft pick (via the Canucks) from the Penguins in exchange for retaining 40 percent of Brassard's salary, which was necessary to fit him under Pittsburgh's cap. Vegas also gave up forward prospect Tobias Lindberg as part of the deal.

Basically, the Senators traded Brassard to the Knights, who in turn ate some cash before flipping the 30-year-old over to the Penguins.

It turns out Vegas' George McPhee may have had an ulterior motive. the Knights were intent on keeping Brassard out of the hands of a Western Conference foe because "it's better to face him in Round 4 than Round 2." Reading between the lines,Authentic Vince Williams Jersey, it doesn't take much to figure out that team was the Jets, who were hot on Brassard's case. For Vegas, paying $2 million (40 percent of Brassard's $5 million cap hit) for an easier path to the Stanley Cup was apparently deemed a worthy price.

That's what happens when you have to find a friend to help circumvent the salary cap. All told, Pittsburgh is the big winner in this trade. The Pens paid a high price (more on that below), Womens Fletcher Cox Jersey, but also received a 2018 third-round draft pick from Ottawa and a pair of forward prospects: Lindberg and Vincent Dunn.

The initial agreement with the Senators rankled the league office, which rejected the offer due to an "improper use of salary retention mechanism," . No harm, no foul. They went back to the drawing board and got it done (though it isn't clear which details the NHL took issues with).

The bottom line is Rutherford got his guy. Brassard, which shouldn't be fair. Filling that spot has been a season-long mission after losing Nick Bonino and Matt Cullen in free agency. Like clockwork, 30,Authentic Timmy Jernigan Jersey, should the Penguins find a way to keep him. He's a bonafide second-line center who slots in behind Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, has 18 goals and 38 points in 58 games and is under contract through 2018-19, Rutherford managed an upgrade through Brassard and the trade for Riley Sheahan earlier this year.

3-2,Taylor Hall extends point streak as Devils top Penguins

Ray Shero may never make as good a trade as when he acquired Taylor Hall from the Oilers for defenseman Adam Larsson prior to last season.

such as the two recent ones he made before Monday’s NHL trade deadline. It’s just an acknowledgement of how well Hall is playing.,That’s not a knock on any of the other deals Shero has made as the Devils’ general manager

“He’s a different beast right now, who tipped in Andy Greene’s feed to snap a third-period tie and score the decisive goal at 5:01 in the Devils’ 3-2 win over the Penguins on Tuesday night at PPG Paints Arena to open a three-game road trip.,” said Stefan Noesen

Hall had a goal and an assist to extend his NHL-best point streak to 15 games, while matching his career high with his 27th goal. The Hart Trophy candidate also has 15 goals and 17 assists total as he’s had at least a point in each of his last 22 games – the NHL not considering it a continuous streak because he missed three games with an injured right thumb prior to the All-Star break., tying the Devils’ all-time mark first set by Patrick Elias in 1999-2000 and matched by Brian Gionta in 2005-06

“The first period, I probably touched the puck five,” Hall said. “It’s the way it’s going. You score points in 22 straight games, six times and I get an assist in the neutral zone, there’s got to be some luck involved and things going your way.”

a key factor considering they have the NHL’s top-ranked power play.,The Devils (33-22-8) won their second straight as their power play went 1 for 1 and they killed off the Penguins’ two man advantages

The Devils moved within two points of the third-place Penguins (36-24-4), in the Metropolitan Division and now have a five-point cushion as they hold the Eastern Conference’s first wild-card spot., who had their 11-game home winning streak snapped

Keith Kinkaid, starting for the 12th time in 15 games and matching his career high with his 26th appearance, recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) after No. 1 goalie Matt Murray suffered a concussion during Monday’s practice, stopped 36 shots while Casey DeSmith, stopped 35 shots.

Newly-acquired Patrick Maroon was not in the lineup after taking a red-eye flight from San Jose to meet his new teammates in Pittsburgh after Shero sent a third-pick in 2019 and 22-year-old forward prospect J.D. Dudek to the Oilers on Monday for the physical forward.

The game did mark Michael Grabner’s second in the Devils’ lineup after Shero acquired him from the rival Rangers on Thursday for a second-round pick in 2018 and 20-year-old Russian defense prospect Yegor Rykov.

“When the GM makes those moves,” Devils coach John Hynes said. “The guys certainly earned it.”, it’s a sign he believes in the team

Shero also acquired defenseman Sami Vatanen, from the Ducks on Nov. 30 for Adam Henrique., playing on the top pair with Greene and who came into Tuesday leading the Devils with 21:43 of average ice time

“Patrick Maroon is a huge pickup,” defenseman Ben Lovejoy said. “Grabner is another weapon for our team. Our management is always trying to make our team better. Now we have to go out and prove them right.”, Sami Vatanen is a huge pickup

Pittsburgh is 15-4-1 over its last 20 games including this current 11-0 streak at home.,the Carolina Hurricanes on January 4 marks the last time that the Penguins have lost at home. Since then

the Penguins sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division with 76 points behind Washington at 77 and Philadelphia at 78. This figures to be a total dogfight down the stretch for the top spot and home ice in the division. Pittsburgh strengthened its chances with the acquisition of Derick Brassard late last week.,Entering Tuesday’s action

The Penguins have been a reliable bet as big chalk favorites of late with a 22-2 record in their last 24 games as a betting favorite of -200 or more per the NHL Database.

The dogfight for the Metropolitan Division could include New Jersey, the Devils are far from out of this race., too. With 72 points and a game in hand on the three teams ahead of them

New Jersey also added some offensive help ahead of the trade deadline, but have since seemingly turned things back around with a 5-2 record over their last seven games., acquiring Michael Grabner and Patrick Maroon. The Devils hit a major rut after a 22-9-5 start that saw them go 5-11-3 over their next 19 games

Every game will be important for these two teams down the stretch, but division rivalry games carry even more weight in the standings. Pittsburgh has looked nearly unbeatable at home over the last two months,Womens Ramon Foster Jersey, and while New Jersey’s new additions should improve the team’s offense, an upset in Pittsburgh will be tough to pull off.

the Ottawa Senators have officially started to tear it all down.,Womens Marcus Gilbert Jersey,After a strange and confusing few hours

Derick Brassard, widely considered the most coveted centre available at this year’s trade deadline,Authentic Timmy Jernigan Jersey, is on his way to the Pittsburgh Penguins after an initial three-way deal was rejected by the NHL. News first broke of the trade early Friday afternoon, but reports had to be retracted following news of the league vetoing the deal — resulting in a lot of confusion for a lot of people trying to figure this thing out.

Pittsburgh ends up with Brassard, a 2018 third-round pick from Ottawa, Patric Hornqvist,Womens Fletcher Cox Jersey, and a pair of minor-league prospects in Tobias Lindberg and Vincent Dunn. With the addition of Brassard, who will have 40 percent of his salary picked up by the Vegas Golden Knights, Pittsburgh now boasts the most potent triple threat down the middle in the NHL, with the 30-year-old joining Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the Metro-leading Pens. The Golden knights, for the tire-fire that they’re about to become, well,My initial thoughts (and those shared by many) on this trade are as follows: Pittsburgh did great in turning their top-nine into the best in the NHL. The Senators, it looks like they got hosed.

Malkin lead Pens past Canes 6-1 for 6th straight win,Kessel

with the roster and in the standings.,The Pittsburgh Penguins made plenty of moves Friday night — on the ice

Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin each had two goals and an assist and the Penguins moved into first place in the Metropolitan Division by routing the Carolina Hurricanes 6-1 for their season-best sixth straight victory.

the Penguins sent defenseman Ian Cole to Ottawa and forward Ryan Reaves to the Vegas Golden Knights.,As part of the complicated three-team deal

"It was interesting leading up to the pre-game meeting," coach Mike Sullivan said., for obvious reasons

Sidney Crosby scored a late goal and Olli Maatta also scored. The Penguins took control with three goals — two by Kessel — in a 7:39 span in the second period.,Jake Guentzel had a goal and two assists

Matt Murray made 27 saves for Pittsburgh, they are 16-3-1.,Womens Ramon Foster Jersey, which has won 11 of 13 to overtake idle Washington for first place in the Metropolitan Division. Since the Penguins were shut out by Carolina on Jan. 4

Like Karlsson, when they should be able to recoup some serious future assets in a trade., the 28-year-old's contract expires after the 2018-19 campaign. So New York must at least consider moving him now or during the offseason

Other Options: Eric Staal, Jeff Carter/Anze Kopitar, Joe Pavelski, Derick Brassard (good DK price still), Nico Hischier, adidas Philipp Grubauer jersey, Auston Matthews/Nazem Kadri, Evgeni Malkin (rising price), Derek Stepan (moderate risk), Anze Kopitar, Steven Stamkos/Brayden Point, Vincent Trocheck/Aleksander Barkov, Tyler Seguin (chalky), Pierre-Luc Dubois (lower priced), Nolan Patrick/Sean Couturier, Connor McDavid (part of mini game stack possible). More on social media.

Christian Dvorak, Jared McCann,Crazy Value Possible: adidas Henrik Sedin jersey,Pavel Zacha (some risk), Adrian Kempe (high risk).

Thursday Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks: Winger values

Florida vs. New Jersey (DraftKings $4,600,Nick Bjugstad, FanDuel $4,800)

as he has exceeded value in four of his past six games. New Jersey’s defense is suspect, and this is a  risk;Authentic Philipp Grubauer jersey, however, allowing nearly 34 shots per 60 away from home. With the better play, Bjugstad can move seamlessly on the second line and power play. The winger is also an agitator on the power play and could breathe some life into it at times on Thursday night. He has 11 goals on 161 shots, which is not great,Bjugstad is on a bit of a roll, but Bjugstad’s expected goals is near 18. There are better plays out there, the slate sets up well for some other possibilities.

Nashville, and even San Jose will be leaned on because of their strong power plays. The late games are a bit of a nightmare to gauge because of all the line switching and some injuries. It is highly recommended to check the latest reports. Watch the Coyotes,Philadelphia, as they have some lower priced players on wing (especially on DraftKings). Beware of Nikita Kucherov with his injury. His status will chance Tampa Bay’s lines and fast.

Timo Meier, and Miles Wood are all nice budget options on DraftKings tonight. With this slate,Thomas Vanek, even these riskier plays are viable (Charlie Coyle price on DraftKings). Watch the second and even third lines of some teams. The expectation is to see elevated bottom-six scoring on this night. Bottom-six matchups will not carry as much risk as they usually do.

Other Options: Taylor Hall (chalky), Craig Smith (high shot potential), Alex DeBrincat, Tyler Toffoli, Jonathan Huberdeau, Kyle Palmieri (some risk), Zach Parise (dangerous risk), Mark Stone/Mike Hoffman, Jamie Benn (lower priced than usual),adidas Alex Ovechkin jersey, Claude Giroux (paired with Nolan Patrick on power play), Sebastien Aho, Clayton Keller (moderate risk), Cam Atkinson (watch line shift), Viktor Arvidsson (higher owned). More plays will be on social media.

Alex Killorn, adidas Bo Horvat jersey, Calle Jarnkrok/Colton Sissons, Charlie Coyle,Crazy Value Possible: Adam Erne (watch Nikita Kucherov news), Miles Wood (dangerous risk),Authentic Braden Holtby jersey, Justin Williams (DraftKings price).

McAvoy shoots at moderate levels typically and has block potential of almost two shots a game. That sounds a bit risky, but the Penguins have been allowing more scoring chances and the fifth-most daily fantasy points on the road to defensemen.

his price is low enough to play anyway. Since he has taken on more of the heavy minutes,Authentic T. J. Oshie jersey,McAvoy is taking advantage of his increased ice time and opportunities. His metrics have been positive. Some will shy away from Boston because of no Patrice Bergeron. However, his quality of play has risen. He generates more pace than Torey Krug. That is impressive for a young player.

as Arizona might allow enough chances for a few goals. John Klingberg and Aaron Ekblad will get chances from the point, adidas T. J. Oshie jersey, as Tampa Bay and New Jersey are just porous down the middle. There is even Michael Matheson for a lower-priced choice in that game. Again,Justin Braun and Marc-Edouard Vlasic are good value plays for San Jose. Jared Spurgeon and Matt Dumba could be decent options, watch line shifts.

900 There are many high-floor options,Check out how low Brent Burns is on FanDuel. He is just $6, so the best advice is to just look around on both sites to pick value. A plethora of choices should mean enough ways to mix chalk with non-chalk on Thursday night.

Other Options: Roman Josi, Brent Burns , Drew Doughty, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Matt Dumba , Rasmus Ristolainen, Will Butcher, Shayne Gostisbehere/Ivan Provorov, Justin Faulk, Victor Hedman, Justin Schultz (risky), John Klingberg (cheap on DraftKings just $5,400), Alex Goligoski, Seth Jones. Even more picks will be on social media due to lineup shifts and injuries.

if the goalie can keep it together, that makes him, by definition,Raanta has had six value starts in his past seven games. He is projected to get the start against a Minnesota team that can get around 30-35 shots . However, a good GPP play because of price. Raanta has around a .940 save percentage in the last month. He will have to bail Arizona out, and his cheap price makes him worth playing. This is where stagnated pricing absolutely helps. His ownership has been steadily rising and will top double digits.

Raanta is a cheap tournament option on DraftKings and risky also on FanDuel. That leaves the dilemma of who else to play. Confirmations are just coming out, so the best course of action may be to wait a bit. There are lower team totals tonight. For as many bullish predictions from Vegas,Again, there are some bears, as well. Beware of Tampa Bay-Dallas and Columbus-Los Angeles due to pace concerns. Philadelphia and Dallas are decent cash game options in net.

History of first-round draft picks dealt for players

the return one player retrieves for a team in one trade, and what players have cost at previous trade deadlines,While general managers and their respective staff evaluate talent differently, goes a long way in informing future moves.

they've progressively been included in fewer trade deadline deals. This season, players like Rick Nash and Evander Kane,First-round picks are generally a pretty steep price to pay in a package deal for any player. Over the past decade, both of whom are on expiring contracts and would constitute rental acquisitions, have each been rumored to cost a first-round pick plus additional assets.

the Rangers' Michael Grabner has been rumored to cost a first-round pick to to acquire,Likewise, with his contract also only running through only the next few months.

forward Kerby Rychel, and a 2018 second-round pick,The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired center Tomas Plekanec and winger Kyle Baun from the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman Rinat Valiev, the teams announced Sunday.

Nazem Kadri, and Tyler Bozak,The Leafs already had strong center depth with Auston Matthews, so Plekanec will allow them to roll four lines deep up the middle if everyone is healthy.

Sidney Crosby, and Evgeni Malkin at center,You can’t help but wonder if Toronto was partially compelled to make the move after the Pittsburgh Penguins landed center Derick Brassard in a three-team trade Saturday. The two-time defending Cup winners now have Brassard, so the Leafs may have decided that they needed to strengthen their already impressive forward group.

a throw-in depth player, fans in Toronto will likely be pleased to see that top prospects like Kasperi Kapanen, the Maple Leafs gave up a trio of future assets. However,In exchange for Plekanec and Baun, adidas Henrik Sedin jersey, Timothy Liljegren, and Andreas Johnsson were retained while still adding a solid piece to the lineup.

where he’s flashed potential but been unable to earn an opportunity on an improving Leafs team. Rychel was a 2013 first-round pick by Columbus who flamed out there before being dumped in Toronto,Valiev was Toronto’s third-round pick (No. 68 overall) in 2014. He’s spent most of the past three seasons in the AHL, where the Leafs still managed to find some value in him as a piece to this trade.

but they’re affordable depth pieces that could fill spots at the bottom of the NHL roster. The team also receive the Leafs’ second-round pick, adidas Bo Horvat jersey, Chicago’s, which now gives it four picks in the second round this year: Toronto’s,Neither of those players is likely to be a major piece for Montreal, Washington’s,Authentic Braden Holtby jersey, and its own. That’s six picks in the first three rounds for Montreal.

I've learned to live by the credo that nobody really knows anything. I mean,And yet, do we really know when the sun is going to burn out? Do we really know whether it will snow this weekend? Do we really know whether the Washington Capitals will ever win their first Stanley Cup?

We can look at numbers that reflect the past -- distant and immediate -- and they can guide us to Probability Island. But they can also leave us stranded on that island, holding our Fenwicks.

if you took my Western Conference playoff predictions and told a friend, I will give you $500, "If BucciMane gets all of these correct, 8-for-8, you give me $500. If he gets just one wrong,Last year," that would be a bet you'd have to take. It's really hard to go 8-for-8. But I did (here's proof). I went 6-for-8 in the East, which is what I consider B or A material.

Let's look at the predictions I made in October for this season and see how they're panning out. I put a nonscientific confidence percentage next to each team to indicate how I feel now about my prediction.

While Vegas does boast the third-leading goal scorer in the league, William Karlsson, the play of 33-year-old goalie Marc-Andre Fleury can't be understated. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 draft ranks second in the league in goals-against average and save percentage and is a big reason why Vegas has outscored their opponents by 45 goals this season.

The Lightning may not have climbed the same mountain as the Knights, but the NHL's first team to 90 points this season has sliced their +1200 Stanley Cup opening odds in half. Not resting on their laurels, Tampa Bay was aggressive at the trade deadline and upgraded its already-stacked defense by acquiring Ryan McDonagh from the New York Rangers.

Winners of five straight and 7-2-1 over their past 10 games, the Central Division-leading Nashville Predators possess the third-best Cup odds at +700 after opening at +1400. Potentially lost in the mix is the fact that Nashville has six players with 40-plus points and six with 15 or more goals in addition to top-five goaltender Pekka Rinne between the pipes.

The reigning Stanley Cup champs, the Pittsburgh Penguins, but the trio of Evgeni Malkin, opened the season as +800 favorites to repeat at sports betting sites. Despite a recent two-game losing streak, they are also 7-2-1 over their past 10 and only three points behind the Washington Capitals for first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Penguins' 13-16-3 road record leaves a little to be desired, Sidney Crosby and Phil Kessel all rank top 12 in points scored, which allows them to remain a playoff threat.

If anyone in the Carolina Hurricanes’ locker room best understands the uneasiness surrounding the NHL trade deadline, it’s Lee Stempniak.

The veteran forward has been dealt by teams four separate times at the deadline in the past, forced to pack up quickly and leave his family behind.

and the moving,“It’s always hard and when you have kids it takes on a whole new meaning,” Stempniak said this week. “With a trade, it’s always a big shock.

“I think there’s definitely some tension,Authentic Henrik Sedin jersey, maybe some anxiousness in the room when it gets close to the deadline. Right now we’re not in the playoffs. You’d be naive not to expect some changes.”

both with expiring contracts at the end of the 2016-17 season,A year ago, the Canes were 10 points out of playoff position as the deadline approached and there was no guesswork about what general manager Ron Francis would do. Defenseman Ron Hainsey and forward Viktor Stalberg,Authentic Bo Horvat jersey, were dealt away as the Canes became a seller.

The Canes are in a better, adidas Alex Ovechkin jersey, if intriguing position this season – one point below the playoff cutline in the Eastern Conference after Thursday’s games – with the deadline set Monday.

“We’re in a lot better place than we were in the past, adidas Braden Holtby jersey,” center Jordan Staal said. “We’re right there with them.”

With 22 games remaining in the regular season, Staal and the Canes believe they can reach the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2009.

“We’ve been a little inconsistent as of late but there’s been a lot of games we’ve played great,Authentic Alex Ovechkin jersey,” Staal said. “We just have to continue to push.”

the team’s new majority owner,It’s hard to say what Francis has in mind for the deadline, whether the Canes will look to add a player or leave the team intact. Thomas Dundon, has been in town the past week and has an opinion on how to handle personnel changes.

“I think there’s a lot of work you have to do to make those decisions,Authentic T. J. Oshie jersey,” Dundon said in a recent interview. “I don’t want to be emotional about the record or the results.”

The Canes’ record is 27-23-10 after going 0-2-1 their past three games. Two of the losses were to the New Jersey Devils, adidas Philipp Grubauer jersey, who have a good grip on the first wild-card spot and added speedy forward Michael Grabner in a trade Thursday night with the New York Rangers.

The Canes will look to end their winless streak Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, 8-1-1 in their past 10 games and chasing the Washington Capitals for first place in the Metropolitan Division. And looking more like a team capable of contending for a third straight Stanley Cup.

is in the final year of a two-year contract with the Canes but did not play until Jan. 12 this season as he recovered from injuries. He does have playoff experience,Stempniak, 35,Authentic Philipp Grubauer jersey, the most recent with the Winnipeg Jets in 2015.

Center Derek Ryan, 31, also is due to become an unrestricted free agent after the season and has had his name pop up in the NHL trade scuttlebutt.

right-handed centers who can produce points,“I haven’t read any of that but have had some friends message me, I guess some teams might be looking for that. But we’ll see what happens. Obviously,” Ryan said. “I mean, Raleigh is where I want to be.”

the Canes’ captain,For Staal, a longtime franchise cornerstone and one of stars of the 2006 Stanley Cup champs, the trade deadline two years ago was one of the low points of his NHL career. Eric Staal, was sent to the New York Rangers just hours before Carolina’s home game with the St. Louis Blues.

NHL Rumor Roundup: Let the Erik Karlsson trade sweepstakes begin

The combination of the Senators' lousy season and uncertainty over captain Erik Karlsson's future with the club has made the All-Star defenseman a lightning rod for trade speculation. With the NHL's Feb. 26 trade deadline fast approaching, adidas Carter Hutton jersey, the 27-year-old Senators captain has once again surfaced in the rumor mill.

That's usually why superstars,Authentic Blake Wheeler jersey, tend to get moved in the offseason. Teams have more time to evaluate their rosters for the following season, such as Karlsson,Authentic Patrik Laine jersey, plus they're flush with additional salary-cap dollars and more receptive to pursuing deals for big-name talent.

It's understandable why Dorion is doing his due diligence. The earliest he can open contract extension talks with Karlsson is July 1. If he feels re-signing Karlsson could be too expensive, it could prove worthwhile to gauge his trade value now.

he could be laying the groundwork for an offseason move,Authentic Dustin Byfuglien jersey,Even if he doesn't find a suitable offer before the deadline, when interested clubs will be in a better position to make better offers.

“Jumbo picked me up, who went to the airport late Monday night. “That was real nice of him,Authentic Michael Hutchinson jersey,” Kane said Tuesday morning of Joe Thornton, especially with the injury that he has. It’s good to see a familiar face right off the hop. A nice welcome.”

The hospitality didn’t end there for Kane,Authentic Connor Hellebuyck jersey, who did his part Tuesday night to help lead the Sharks to a 5-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

received more adulation after assisting on the Sharks’ first two goals,Kane was cheered when he was shown on the JumboTron inside SAP Center early in the first period, and had fans out of their seats after a skirmish with Matt Benning midway through the second period.

“Fans were outstanding. A real warm welcome, adidas Connor Hellebuyck jersey,” Kane said. “It was nice to get the first game here at home and cap it off with a win.”

“It was tricky,” Kane said. “(Benning) kind of stopped quickly and lost his balance and I just kind of bumped him a little bit. Probably looked worse than it was, but they hard-rimmed it and it hit the ref, but was able to create the turnover and we put it in the back of the net.”

It was the first of four unanswered goals for the Sharks, who ended a three-game losing skid and begin their six-game homestand on a positive note.

“Second period,” Pavelski said. “I think (Kane) was a big part of that. That shift where he kind of blew (Benning) up in the corner, created that loose puck and we scored off of it, that was one of our best periods in a while, it really got the crowd into it, really got the team going again.”

Timo Meier and Logan Couture also scored in the second period for San Jose, adidas Blake Wheeler jersey,Justin Braun, which held on to second place in the Pacific Division. Chris Tierney added an empty-netter in the final minute to round out the scoring.

Kane was acquired Monday from Buffalo in a deal just before the NHL trade deadline that saw the Sharks send two conditional draft picks to the Sabres and center Danny O’Regan,

including potentially the first power play unit. Kane averaged over 19 minutes of ice time per game the last five-plus season, adidas Patrik Laine jersey,Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said he’d use Kane in all situations, including 19:23 in 61 games with the Sabres this season.

Kane played 16:34,adidas Dustin Byfuglien jersey,Tuesday, with the Sharks largely rolling four lines all game.

The Sharks were looking any type of offensive spark after they scored just seven goals — all at even strength — on their just-completed 1-2-1 road trip. The Sharks had not scored with the man advantage in nine straight games, going 0-for-20 in that time.

Kane, adidas Michael Hutchinson jersey, should help. He entered Tuesday already ranking second on the Sharks with 20 goals this season, 26,Authentic Carter Hutton jersey, and nine of his 40 points on the year have come on the power play.

and in the process,Besides playing for a new contract — he’s slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer — Kane wants to help the Sharks get into the playoffs, show everyone that he can seamlessly fit into a new environment.

Goaltender Troy Grosenick has found a familiar new home in Milwaukee

But if there’s ever a competition for "Mr. Born to be a Milwaukee Admiral," one of the team’s newest acquisitions needs to be in the conversation from the start.

Troy Grosenick’s parents had one of their first dates at an Admirals hockey game.

The inspiration for his name was Troy Gamble, who emerged as the Admirals’ top goaltender the season before Grosenick’s birth.

He went to his first game at the BMO Harris Bradley Center when he was a couple of months old, adidas Daniel Sedin jersey, had a season ticket as a child and played for the club that has become the Jr. Admirals.

Before practice Wednesday, Steve Tuttle,Authentic Alex Ovechkin jersey, he knew more of the 1994-'95 Admirals roster  –  "Gino Cavallini and Mark LaForest, Sylvain Couturier … I could honestly keep going and going and going ..." – than new teammates.

So,Authentic T. J. Oshie jersey, yeah, it’ll be kind of a big deal Friday night when the goaltender from Brookfield laces up his skates and glides onto the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena ice to become the first player born and raised in the Milwaukee area to be an Admiral.

Grosenick, for the time being, adidas Patrik Laine jersey, is bunking at his parents’ house in the room he left nine years ago with the Felix Potvin, 28, got to town Tuesday night and, Eddie Belfour and Patrick Roy posters on the wall.

“Instead of coming home from school and going to practice, I’m just going to practice,” Grosenick said.

"Definitely a different experience being at home and being able to play pro hockey."

Grosenick learned to skate at the Eble Ice Arena in Brookfield, volunteered to be a goalie at 7 when his mites team needed one and chased around the Midwest and parts of Canada with the Wisconsin junior team.

He went on to win two East Coast Athletic Conference titles with Union College in his three years there and was the league’s goaltender of the year and a Hobey Baker Award finalist in 2012.

Grosenick has played in 168 American Hockey League games since turning pro in 2013, but he’ll always be known for his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks in 2014, a 45-save shutout in a 2-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

"She was down for a visit," said the 22-year-old, who was on the way to the grocery store when Mark Bernard called with the big news. "So my first phone call was to my dad. We were all on speakerphone.

"It was a special moment for sure."

It's been a special season for Highmore, too, and that's the biggest reason the Hawks are giving him a look with 19 games remaining.

Highmore, whom the Hawks signed last March after an impressive season in the Quebec Junior League, set a Rockford rookie record with 21 goals in 56 games.

He stood out during training camp and is a responsible two-way forward who, 187-pound frame, isn't afraid to go to the dirty areas. IceHogs coach Jeremy Colliton said that while some of Highmore's goals came on highlight-reel plays, despite his 5-foot-10, many more came because of his ability to find loose pucks and rebounds around the net.

"His compete level's excellent," Colliton said. "For a first-year pro, he's done all we can ask (and is) a guy we can rely on in all situations. We expected him to be responsible in all three zones after seeing him in junior and how he carried himself in the preseason.

"But he's shown a lot more offense than we expected."

Highmore said his game has come a long way thanks in large part to Colliton,Authentic Auston Matthews jersey, who is in his first year with Rockford.

" Highmore said. "It's a lot of fun to play with the puck instead of chasing it.","(I'm) more patient with the puck and (have) more poise

but also knows the butterflies will be flying as game time approaches.,Authentic Daniel Sedin jersey,He's excited about the opportunity

"If you weren't nervous, there's something wrong with you,Authentic Henrik Sedin jersey," he said, smiling.

he and his mom did eventually get out of the car.,And while Highmore's heart was racing pretty fast outside that grocery store Monday

The Tampa Bay Lightning strengthened their Eastern Conference-leading team by acquiring New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh.

And the Rangers spurred their franchise overhaul by adding yet another first-round draft pick in consecutive days as the trade deadline came to a close Monday.

a two-time 20-goal-scorer.,adidas Alex Ovechkin jersey,The Lightning struck among the most significant deals by adding the 28-year-old McDonagh to a lineup already well-stocked with elite defensemen. Tampa Bay also acquired left wing J.T. Miller

The NHL trade deadline came and went Monday with a couple of medium to big deals, and the Islanders may have made the riskiest move of all by deciding they didn't have to trade John Tavares., but no real blockbusters. The Senators decided not to trade Erik Karlsson despite last minute efforts by Vegas to acquire him. The Coyotes didn't move Oliver Ekman-Larsson they and pretty much kept their last place roster intact. Mike Green is still plays for the Red Wings

Tavares will be a free agent on July 1,Authentic Patrik Laine jersey, and with the Islanders' playoff hopes dwindling each day, the smart move would've been to get as much as they could for Tavares at the deadline and then try and re-sign him after the season. Now, the Isles risk missing the playoffs and losing the services of one of the best players in the NHL for nothing in return.

Here are some trades that did happen and their repercussions.

Derick Brassard to Pittsburgh: We all knew the Penguins were going to make a move by the deadline. The only real question was going to be whether it would be on offense or defense. Most would've preferred the Pens add a defender; preferably a Top 4 defenseman but those prices were high, Evgeni Malkin and Brassard., so they went the next best route and added Brassard. This gives the Pens incredible strength down the middle with Sidney Crosby

Tomas Plekanac to Toronto: Even in his prime, especially with Auston Matthews likely out until mid-March due to a shoulder injury. Plekanac is not Fantasy-worthy., Plekanac was never more than a second-line player but that is asking quite a lot from him at this point in his career. He will give the Maple Leafs depth at center

Rick Nash to Boston: The Bruins have been playing like the best team in the NHL over the past couple of months, but they are pretty much a one-line team. David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, and Patrice Bergeron form one of the best lines in the game. This can work during the season but in the playoffs, it makes Boston very easy to defend and that line will see nothing but the opposing team's top defensive pair. This is why it was so important for the Bruins to acquire a Top 6 forward.

Patrick Maroon to New Jersey: After back to back productive seasons for the Oilers, the team decided to maximize his value and trade him since they won't make the playoffs this season. Maroon has stated that he wants to return to Edmonton as a free agent, so this is a pure rental move for the Devils but one that could come back to bite them. The Devils must concerned about whether they are truly getting a solid secondary goal-scorer or someone who benefitted from playing on a line with Connor McDavid. The Devils needed scoring from someone other than Taylor Hall, so good for them for going for it. However, Fantasy owners shouldn't expect the kind production Maroon put up with Edmonton.

Thomas Vanek to Columbus: Vanek was signed so late in the offseason that everyone knows he was signed just to be traded. Vancouver was never expected to be a playoff team. Vanek was having a better than expected season playing on a line with the Sedin twins, as Vanek is slotted to play on the team's third line with Brandon Dubinsky and Matt Calvert for now., and the Blue Jackets will hope that continues as they have had problems scoring all season. Fantasy owners may want to take a wait and see approach

Tomas Tatar to Vegas: As mentioned above, but this could be a fluid situation, they turned their sights on Tatar. Yes, giving up picks in each of the first three rounds might seem like overpaying. Especially for a player who has never scored 30-plus goals in a season and only reached the 50-point mark once in his career. However, they do have a deep roster and Tatar adds to that depth. He is slotted to start on the third-line, the Golden Knights were deep in conversation with the Senators to acquire Erik Karlsson and when that didn't work out, it's another signal to both the locker room and the team's fans that the Knights are going for it in their expansion season.  adidas Henrik Sedin jersey,They have draft picks to burn after picking up an abundance of them leading up to and during the expansion draft. The Golden Knights are a legitimate team. One can argue that they really don't have a top line player. While that may be true, as coach Gerard Gallant will need to see where Tatar fits in best.

especially after they lost Joe Thornton to a knee injury. Kane got off to a hot start this season before tailing off over the past two months. He knew he was going to be dealt and just needed a change of scenery.adidas T. J. Oshie jersey,He's a pickup if he's on your waiver wire.,adidas Auston Matthews jersey,Evander Kane to San Jose: The Sharks needed the offensive help
